So for the first time ever, I opened the spare tire compartment and there was what I think is mold everywhere. It was on the fabric cover for the breaker bar and inside of the rim.

I thought this compartment was water right? Anybody else that's had the vehicle for over a year see this? I rarely open the tonneau cover as I'm afraid it will get stuck, and the bed has never seen rain with the tonneau open.

And anything I can do to prevent this in the future? Maybe DampRid?

Water tight means humidity inside stays in it as well.

that area is pretty water tight but i'm not sure what Rivian states about it. i dont have a spare but i open it once a month just to check and a few times i saw a little bit of water but i would guess its condensation. either way not good. did you contact customer service to see what they can do?

I may pull the spare tire out and check mine this weekend. I haven’t been in that compartment since purchasing the truck, and I should probably check the spare and jack condition more often.

Hopefully, if there is any mold, it can be cleaned simply.

Maybe pull up the drain plug from the bottom to allow some airflow?

Please report back the results!

That's what I was thinking. I'm going to try this. Also ditched the bag that was covered in mold and will use something else that's not fabric and try this mold prevention spray

I only have my spare in the tire compartment, I keep the jack, puck and tools under the rear seat because there's just no way to keep that area in the bed water tight. Your jack already has rust on it too...

Clean everything with bleach, let it dry outside under direct sunlight.. then move it all in to the cab.

I just discovered the same in my spare tire compartment. Tow kit bag and field kit bag covered in mold. I’ll try removing the drain plug as well for some air circulation. I hope that does the trick.

Maybe it would be a good idea to throw some desiccation packs in there and switch them out from time to time. Must get super humid
