I found this article on the precarious nature of rail in the US quite interesting.
I frankly had no idea that US railroads were in such rough shape, and seem to presently be hanging by just a thread. I have no idea how dependent the auto industry is on rail freight but suspect it's quite a bit. Likewise, I don't know how much Rivian relies on rail freight in, but recently read that that were increasing rail for freight out. The bottom line seems to be that we may be heading back into the woods in terms of supply chain troubles.
