My stock 21s were running threadbare by the time we returned from our ~6,000-mile road trip from the Left Coast to the South Coast (Houston, Tejas) and anyway I wanted new snow shoes for pottering around in the Sierra Nevada this winter. That was my excuse, anyway, for getting a set of Atomic Wheels AWZZ for my R1S. I fitted Nokian Hakkapeliitta R5 SUVs on these. Theyāre 275/60R20 with 116H rating.
I want to acknowledge how responsive and helpful Santiago and the folks at @Atomic Wheels were during this process. I knew from the start that there was a back-order for the wheels I wanted, but in the end I didnāt have to wait quite as long as originally expected. In my order I had specified silver TPMS to go with these black rims, and Andrew from Atomic Wheels got in touch to recommend that I switch to matching black TPMS. That was a good call and I agreed. (The customer is always right, but sometimes you need to guide him to the right place. Well done, Atomic Wheels!).
I started this process with little knowledge of wheels and tires and itās remarkable how much there is to learn, even as a consumer. (It didnāt help that there seems to be some confusion about what is the minimum weight rating for tires on the R1S, with contradictoryāand I now believe sometimes downright inaccurateāinformation on some of the leading tire vendorsā web-based configurators. TL/DR: 116 is enough, and inflate your tires to 48 PSI.) The Atomic Wheels folks were very helpful in guiding me through this whole experience. Hereās my R1S with the new rims.
