I love the contrast between the electric quad and the Ford tractor.
In 100 years when someone finds both, the Ford will probably still run....

That’s a pretty cool toy. The 31 mile range Canam advertises when used for “utility work” really limits the utility of the machine but if it’s just an around the small property or for plowing smaller drives that’s not bad.
It's funny, but with farm equipment you don't really think about range in terms of miles. You think about how much time you can spend using it. So for most applications around the small farm, that time is almost endless (because it's not using energy while it's stationary).

There will at least still be parts available, I know that from experience. Whether it runs or not in 100 years, depends on how it's treated by the next guy.

I would love for our side-by-side and ATVs to be electric. But 55 miles is a dealbreaker. Maybe keep the side-by-side gas and look at this electric ATV. I’m guessing it’s pricey.
Really depends on your use case. The guy who owns my Can-Am dealer told me he was pretty sure Can-Am is going to release an EV side-by-side soon, so you'll at least have the option if you're shopping around.

Interesting they brought it to market. Polaris made one also, but never went on sale (that I know of).
can you remove the battery to charge it? My farm is 15 miles from my L2 charger. As I recall the Polaris etv you could.
No, it's a fairly beefy battery, so you might need a forklift to move it around. It's 9x bigger than my 1 kwh Goal Zero backup battery, and even that's pretty heavy to move around by hand.

I plowed two miles of 8-inch snow on a gravel road this morning, and it used 24% of the battery. I'm impressed by that. I was in 4WD the whole time. Had to stop because my face was numb. It's plugged in now (the screen said 15 minutes to get it from 69% to 80%), and I'll head back out as soon as I get a hot coffee in me.

And the capability of this thing FAR outpaces my tractor. I'd have to do multiple passes with my tractor, especially on the uphill sections, because it would've gotten bogged down with so much snow weight against the plow. But the Outlander Electric went through it like butter...like it didn't even care. Crazy how good this thing is.

Glad to hear there is a way to precondition the battery for cold weather charging. That's the Achilles heel of my Energica electric moto, no active thermal management, so can't really charge it when below freezing. Not that I'd be riding it in the winter anyway, just more to keep it at a good SOC.

Well, you've got a collector's item at least. I was sad to see Energica go under...I had considered buying one to replace my Honda CB500X, but ultimately decided to just stop riding a motorcycle (for now).

Finished plowing, and I think the snow will stop soon so I don't think I'll need to go back out. Very impressed with this so far. My neighbor was out on his quad and I let him drive this for a bit. He couldn't get past how silent it is--all you can hear is the plow scraping the gravel.

They have been ressurected by a Singapore firm and are going to go back into production. I got a email to schedule a zoom call with them couple weeks ago, they are being very proactive reaching out to current owners.

I've had no issues with the bike so fingers crossed they will be fully back up and running before I need anything.

What is the typical range of a gasoline version without extra fuel?

Had to google it, but this is in an article I found: "With its 5.4-gallon fuel tank, that gives you a theoretical range of 54 to 108 miles."

I'm loving this thing SO much. It's so nice not having to spend time struggling to start my old tractor when it's cold out. (I sold my old Ford 8N last week BTW. Took me one day to find a buyer.)

I'm a beekeeper, so this is what a lot of my work looks like. Just based on my experience so far, I suspect I'll only need to plug this in every 2-3 weeks...charging up to 80%, and then running it down to 20%. I'll have to charge more often in the summer when I'm mowing with it, but even that I'm guessing will be fairly infrequent since I'm getting a pull-behind brush hog with it's own engine.

If you're an EV nerd and in the market for an ATV, this is worth your consideration IMO, as long as you don't need it for long-distance trail rides.
