Originally placed a deposit for an R1S in early 2023 - after many delays in getting a build slot we ended up transitioning to the second gen R1S on the day they were announced and ordered the Tri Max. Took delivery on September 21st.

A few minor issues after leaving the lot - alignment was off, found two minor dings when we got home, dynamic roof is mainly opaque whether on or off (but appears that's by design). Had first malfunction a few days later after doing the latest software update - front sensors reported an error and in need of service. Did a hard reset and that took care of it. All seemed okay.

Two days ago on October 3rd I got in the car and the screens seemed to be stuck / delayed / not responding to inputs. Drove off and screens began blinking / all error lights came on at the bottom of the driver's side screen and the sound system volume turned itself up to the max. Made it to a place I could pull over a few miles away, tried another hard reset with no improvement.

Today both screens remain fully blank / black no matter what. Car will still turn on and seems drivable though. Spoke to Rivian and they had me try all the resets again with no improvement. Going to drop it off this coming Monday the 7th at the service center.

Super disappointing. Doesn't bode well. Would love to know if any others have experienced any issues like this.

Yes, in my Gen 1. Failed AXM was the diagnosis, and has been great for the following 2+ years.

Air bubble is my axm as stated above. I was able to diagnose from doing research on the forum. Never had that problem again.

I ended up doing a buy back with Rivian after two years due to a plethora of issues I have my trimax coming in two weeks. I pray I won’t have these issues again

Did Rivian just payoff your loan (sorry, assuming you had one) or refund you for the whole time you had the car?

Rivian Did the right thing!! Just put it that way! I am excited but nervous about my new one. I really hope I luck out now. I am very well known at my service center and I hope they iron out any potential issues before I pick it up.
