Ooh that would be incredible! I was glad to see some chargers at Darling Run last month. But Blackwell would be a great location!

Thanks! I have not been that far north to Wellsboro in quite awhile and hadnt heard that. Kudos to PA-DCNR!. Now we just to keep lobbying our state legislature to pass some more EV-friendly purchasing bills…

ClipperCreek reminded me of a memorable charge late this summer in our Volvo XC 40. Just outside of Millheim in very rural Centre County there is a huge solar array with free charging installed by Burkholder’s Country Market.

That is great! I have a PHEV right now, but one of my major concerns is how trips to the PA wilds will play out with an EV. I can't wait to try!

I wrote my State Rep here in PA and got this reponse.

In the state of PA, almost all new vehicles have been sold through dealer networks supplied by respective automobile manufacturers. The General Assembly amended the Board Vehicles Act in 2014 by passing SB1409 which then became Act 125. Rep. Masser voted for Act 125. This Act allowed Tesla, who is the manufacturer, to also directly sell its vehicles in PA. Currently, Rep. Lawrence is the prime sponsor of HB 1907 which was introduced on September 27, 2021. The bill was referred to the Professional Licensure committee. This bill would allow other electric vehicle manufacturers to sell directly to the public. The bill has not made it out of committee because there has been extreme push back from the PA Dealers Association. The bill will not move until there is a compromise.

My response:

I am so glad to hear Rep Masser is amenable to loosening EV direct sales regulations in Pennsylvania.

Of course the Dealers don’t want the market to be opened up! In a few years all of them will be offering EVs and it wont matter anymore. The consumer will have the choice, the sine qua non for free market economy! They will survive this transition period just fine sitting on their fat corporate nest eggs.

So, what exactly is “extreme pushback”? Are they threatening to pull lobbying money and campaign donations? How do citizens like me combat that?

His office’s reply:

I saw an R1T roll past me in Doylestown PA last night as I was taking my son to tee ball practice.

It happened so fast I almost didn't believe my eyes.

Only caught it for a couple seconds. It was silver/white/limestone.

If I didn't need to be somewhere I would have altered my plans and drove after it hoping to get a better look. This is the first R1T I've seen in person.

Updated to large pack, have a delivery window now of Nov-Dec, and hoping that is the long number. Have a guide assigned, and the only hold up is the interior choice. Have had word that OC is starting to come through the lines now, so hoping that is true and my wait could be coming to an end sooner than Nov.

I'm buffalo area and just picked an R1T from the rivian store. I get it this week, my pre-order window was for nov-dec.
