I did find an old thread that dealt with this, but I wonder if perhaps something has changed: today, I really needed to move my R1T (2022) a few feet while the driver's door was open. There is a safety interlock that prevents the truck from moving while the door is open--which is usually a very good thing! The override that the older thread mentioned (before the discussion decayed into bickering) was to very slightly ride the brake while also slightly depressing the accelerator. Does anyone have any new workarounds?

(Not that it's relevant to the question, but if you're curious: the reason I needed to do this was that I was in very tall grass when I opened the driver's door. The grass made it impossible to close the door. If I could have driven just a meter or two, I would have been in a spot with shorter grass and could have closed the door. Yes, I did address the problem--by getting out and ripping the grass to a manageable height. But driving that short distance would have been easier.)

I've worked with many systems with safety interlocks of one sort or another and recognize that defeating them is not something that should be done without proper consideration. But sometimes it really is necessary or at least very useful.

Another case when this would be useful is hitching and unhitching a trailer. I frequently have to get in the truck and move it just a smidgen and get out again to remove a chock, adjust the tongue height, or take the load off of the hitch lock. I sometimes get in and out 2 or 3 times in one session. It would be nice to just leave the door open when I hop in to move it slightly, but I've learned to close the door each time.
