Texas Trade your Rivian Blue R1S for my Red Model S Plaid?

Currently own a red 2021 Model S Plaid with Cream and Carbon Fiber interior. 9k miles. Full PPF wrap and tinted windows.

Considering ordering a blue R1S to replace it. Just getting the itch for something different.

Maybe a longshot, but thought I'd see if anyone might be interested in a Plaid. If so, we could save each other time and money by swapping vehicles.

Pretty dead set on Rivian blue. Big bonus points for Costal interior.

Regardless, probably a fun conversation to discuss if a 2021 Plaid and R1S are of equal value.

That really does look fantastic. Mind me asking when you ordered? I'm sure I'll ultimately end up ordering one, but sounds like orders are a year out at this point. (hence considering a trade or buying private party if the right one comes up)

I ordered April 27, 2020 and picked it up on February 14, 2023... so almost 3 years... but it certainly won't be that long for anyone ordering these days. That was over 2 years before production even started on the R1S.

They are getting them out much faster now so @bajadahl 's timeline might not represent what's happening at the moment. Your best bet is still probably to order one. If you order then get access to the shop you might see one you like fairly quickly.

Yeah, I'm about to just order one, but the site is saying "order now for 2024 delivery". Given the number of R1Ss I'm seeing for sale, it's clear tons of people just went through with their orders to flip them. Figured it wouldn't hurt to ask. If the right combo shows up for sale I very well might just pull the trigger and buy it. Sure would be nice to avoid the sales tax though.

I've got an R1S supposedly delivering in May/June but have had serious doubt if it's the right vehicle for me. I'm sure I'll love it but I plan on driving it for a long time (currently in a 2005 4runner that I bought used in 09) so I'm bent on it being the perfect car nd a few aspects of the R1S are disappointing. but honestly, I have never been in one so I need to do that before I offer my reservation up for sale. Does everyone get a first mile drive offer? If so when? Or do I have to be banging down their door to get that? I'm in DC metro so no current service center anywhere near me. I think the closest is RIchmond, Va. 2.5 hrs away.

Related, has anyone heard of reservation holders getting blackballed for turning around and selling? My wife has a tesla which she bought "used" with 600 miles and someone at the Tesla service center told me that the original buyer of the car had been flagged for flipping the vehicle.

There is a SC being built in Gaithersburg/Germantown. Coming s00n, like summertime. There are mobile techs in the area. I had one meet me at home in North Potomac. It was easy. We are expecting the S to get delivered sometime in April.

So you're going to be an S and T owner? nice. For the S, I assume you've been contacted by your guide and stared the steps or locked in your configuration?

S was original order. T came way later (post price increase, ouch). T got delivered in Jan, S coming for the wife very soon.. 8 steps open, waiting on it to make the trip from Normal to Richmond.
