Portland area tire service

hey Portland peeps. my r1t has 9500 miles and it‘s time (past?) to rotate the tires. does anyone have experience getting this done?

• should I have rivian do it?
• what’s the deal with pucks?
• Les Schwab?

I’d call Discount Tire and see if they are up to speed. I got a screw in my tire on a recent trip and went to the one in Reno and they had the pucks and knew exactly how to lift the truck. The manager said they went through training.

Also they didn’t charge me for the repair.

I rotated about a month and a half ago. I called Discount in Wilsonville and Tigard, neither had pucks and could do it. Ended up purchasing a puck and doing it myself; wasn’t difficult, just read the manual. Hopefully local shops have pucks soon.

We have our own pucks, and provided them to Les Schwab (Hillsboro/Imbrie) and they had no issue rotating our tires and used our pucks. As it was one of their first R1T, we did pre-pop the covers for the pucks. Those lift point covers do have a tether, so they just dangled. They thoughtfully reinstalled the plastic covers after the rotation. I’ll also note that they did not use their full lift, they must have looked at the vehicle weight and decided just to use floor jacks.

Same as the previous post. I have the spare, so it has the (not great) puck in there, Schwab just used that to do my tire switchover in the winter/spring.

And, like the previous post, Schwab told me it took a bit longer because they had to do it one wheel at a time w/ a manual floor jack.

The Rivian service centers both have lifts, not sure if they'll do a rotation for you. I am taking my truck in tomorrow and will ask.

I had the exact same experience at Discount Tire in Hillsboro. Only mine was a nail, not a screw.

hey all, thanks for all of the responses.

I went to my local Les Schwab (NE Broadway and 7th) this afternoon to assess their readiness. They were aware of the requirements, and let me know that they have pucks on order.

This is good news for me. I’m going to wait for a bit and see if they get them.

Discount tire in both Gresham as well as Vancouver installed/removed winter tires on my Rivian. Both had pucks, so no big deal there.
