Power usage of autonomy

Never thought much about this but 22kwh each day is higher than I thought it would use... Hope optical chips become reality sooner than later...

1.1 kW per hour doesn't seem very noticable. That means about 3 more kWh between DCFC chargers on a road trip and probably a negligible amount for day to day driving. For comparison, the heated seats in the Rivian use about 500W/hr so basically the equivalent of running both heated seats.

After my experiences either FSD in my Model Y, I’m anti-sold on autonomy as a concept.

I’ll follow what Rivian is doing, their more thoughtful approach is better than Tesla’s approach.

But I’m not counting any of these chickens before they hatch.

There’s no reason to think there won’t be substantial change between today’s system and a true Level 5 system.
