Always an option, but I'm not interested in spending that much.You can pay to have full wrap PPF done, mine is that way.

I dislike what you are describing too. A good PPF shop will wrap around the edges and you will not feel or see any seams.I dislike seeing edges of PPF in oddly random locations - like few inches of the leading edge of the hood. Not for me....
My Model Y is the first car I didn't get a full wrap on, and it was totally fine. They wrapped entire panels though, and wrapped around edges, so you couldn't tell.I dislike what you are describing too. A good PPF shop will wrap around the edges and you will not feel or see any seams.
The edges are dirt collector over time and will definitely be noticeable. Find a good shop that covers the edges.
Right, so a whole panel gets wrapped. For the rear bumper there's no obvious break, so I would expect to see edges there. But for the front panel I want to get done, it would be the whole panel with edges wrapped, like this highlighted area;I dislike what you are describing too. Go to the website of any PPF installer site, and they will usually show you exactly what's being wrapped. They have packages for common requests other than full.Right, so a whole panel gets wrapped. Right. If you look at the XPEL site they show this;Go to the website of any PPF installer site, and they will usually show you exactly what's being wrapped. They have packages for common requests other than full.
The site isn't letting me attach anything, but for example, goto this page and scroll towards the bottom:

Any good shop can do whatever you want. You don't need to use Rivian's online configurator. My local shop is an XPEL dealer and I asked them to do what you showed above except the hood, mirrors, and quarter panel/fender area. I wanted to save some money but still do that big front end. I'm also doing the mirror black rear bumper piece bc it's going to get torn up.Right. If you look at the XPEL site they show this;

But I only want that front panel done. I'll check with the shop I plan to use. I'm sure they can do it.
Exactly what I want as well. Ballpark cost, any idea?Any good shop can do whatever you want. You don't need to use Rivian's online configurator. I got quoted $1,699 to do the entire front including the hood but excluding the mirrors and fenders. I wanted to save more money than that so I'm omitting the hood for $1,098 total - see pic below. I'm also paying $399 for the entire gloss back rear bumper piece. I've done ceramic before (it's great) but never PPF so I didn't want to break the bank on top of ceramic for $1,099. They're doing 4 year warranty full ceramic on the entire exterior including glass, paint, and plastics. This is a top tier shop btw also...they have all sorts of very expensive cars there all the time getting stuff done. So I feel good about the price.Exactly what I want as well. Kinda solidifies my opinion on PPF. 44k miles of driving without PPF and all you can find are two small pits that are only really noticeable on close inspection?If you decide to not to do the PPF and just do ceramic coating, or do nothing, recommend increasing your drivie following distance by at least 50% as Rivian has a very flat and vertical front facia that catches EVERYTHING. I've managed to only get 2 very small, but noticeable upon a close up, scratches/pits in 44k miles.
Black cars exclusively? You’re a brave soul!Resell value won't change. It's just what your tolerance is for chips. Also, I always have black cars, and you can see EVERYTHING. So take that into consideration. If you have silver/white colors, the PPF won't really help. But a black car? You can see every little thing.
Foolish, I knowBlack cars exclusively? You’re a brave soul!![]()
