I got that email AFTER I had already placed the reservation.

It's the same email so I expect that they'll be linked.
You're good - if you log in to your account page on rivian.com, you should see your R2 reservation reflected on your account.

What I really want is priority delivery of the R3X....
Same here. The R2 is nice, but I'd like to add the R3X to my R1S...as long as it performs like a 911 Dakar.

Looked in my account... I ended up with two R2 reservations :-O. Looks like they did hit me for 2x $100. The system gave me an error the first time I clicked "reserve" and made it look like the credit card info was incorrect. I typed everything again and hit the submit button again and that time it worked. But now it looks like I ended up with two reservations :-O, so clearly the first "click" worked. System must have been overwhelmed. Oh well, two is better than zero.

I have two R2 reservations as well, but that was on purpose :) Might only keep one, though. Happy to have options. For now, R2 will replace my Jeep Cherokee in Kona. The second R2 reservation was to replace my wife's R1S in Phoenix, but I'm not sure if we can give up that beauty - even though we really don't need a car that big since I'm keeping my R1T.

Just saw this cool picture on the reservation page. Charging pad looks the same, but RJ said this one will actually work. Nice shot of the storage drawer:

Man, I'm clearly doing the wrong things in my life--how are people putting down multiple reservations like they're buying candy from the checkout lane?!?! ?‍♂ :CWL:

RJ just called. My R2 is estimated for priority delivery in two years ?

Seriously, Rivian is smart to do this! Before putting brand new customers into a Rivian put employees and existing experienced owners in to test the waters.

Question - if I lease a R1S with this R2 priority ($100 reservation already in the system), once my name comes up for the R2 can I terminate my lease on the R1 wo a penalty?

if they offer decent trade-in value on R1S configs, these things are going to be sold out for a year or more
I'm not seeing what happens with the lease if you lease a R1S when your turn to take delivery of a R2 comes - we don't need two vehicles, I wonder if you'd have to pay the lease out or there's a way to terminate early.

No word yet on if there will be any such program, but probably safe to assume that you'll get hit with early termination fees and such. Legacy automakers often have "pull-ahead" program that lets you off the lease early for a few months if you lease another one of their vehicles if that's what you're thinking of. Also, legacy automakers with in-house financing arms have an advantage in flexibility here. With Rivian, there has to be negotiation/coordination between Rivian and Chase.

One option worth looking into is the lease buyout to trade in difference. It's possible to take a smaller hit than outright early termination of the lease going this route (though unlikely).

Speaking for myself, it was many years of 90-hour weeks, smart investing, delayed gratification, and multiple degrees. It feels worth it now, but at the time it was hard to keep the faith.

Respect the hustle.

That said, and I'm not stating this to start a fight nor debate:
I do believe most of the time people's fortune comes down to luck and chance. (Right place, right time, right opportunity; and/or being born in the right place.) And there are some pretty strong data that back this up.

I guarantee you most of us who are trying to make more lucrative moves in our lives simply don't have the opportunities, and not for lack of trying. I've done the nights and weekends. I've sacrificed time and family and health for my career... regardless. I'm not saying I'm doing poorly, but I definitely can't say I'm anywhere near easy street or disposable income.

Investing is one area I definitely fell short in, and probably continue to. But even that doesn't come without risk, and education around it is peppered with people that have agendas.

All that said, I don't begrudge anyone with the lavish lifestyle and ability to buy vehicles for their friends and families. I'd likely do the same in their shoes. But I'm also definitely someone who's about to enjoy the burden and burn of incoming tariffs, market adjustments and increased taxes... to the point where the wife and I are re-doing most of our budgets to ensure we can even keep our current Rivians. It's probably not the responsible thing to do, but we'll let time tell us what is.

Everyone says it’s luck but luck boiled down is where preparedness meets opportunity. The more you know, the more you’re prepared, the greater the likelihood of being able to capitalize on an opportunity.

Did I get some fortuitous breaks? Absolutely,(I also took some big risks) but I could only take advantage of them because I had the tools to be able to do so.
