I have to vent here: I’ve spent an hour taking dozens of perfectly formed, well lit ID photos, and I can’t get last the auto-retarded portion of the online notary process run by Proof. They won’t even let me see the notary, who I’m sure could inspect the IDs over a webcam in about 30 seconds. The process is awful and Rivian penny pinching is to blame. A real mobile notary is 10x quicker and more reliable. Now my delivery appointment is in jeopardy.

My problem wasn't the IDs but rather the first set of questions. There were either typos in them - so were they right or wrong? Or they walked a gray line between business and past vs current. I got punched out for getting one wrong out of 5 however many times the system would let you try. Then, after the 24-hour time out, the new questions were 100% sane and easy to pass.

I think the system just can’t recognize new US passports. No drivers license alternative is available in this case (name change). Enshittification of the world continues.

I whole heartly agree. The Proof ID system/process was infuriating. It would not read our WA state DL's at all.. no matter if we used our phones or the camera on my PC. We finally used our US Passport cards.. those worked. It took us over 2 hours to complete just that step, and we are past the 'required' deadline by 30 minutes.. I thought for sure we would loose the pick up date (next day) but we didn't. I complained to anyone at Rivian who would listen, but to no avail. To say we were royally pissed off is an understatement.

ok, whew.. rant over.

Hmm. We've done it twice since Nov and the entire process worked fine and was super fast (we're in WA).

I'm glad to hear Rivian has worked out the kinks of the identification validation process.

When I had to get a few documents notarised and apostilled for work abroad, I skipped the online route and went with this service apostillelondon.com. Way faster, zero drama, and they actually talk to you if something’s off.
