I thought my Gen 1 sound system was pretty good until I dropped it off at the Service Center (they were amazing and the problems were slight and entirely remedied) and RIVIAN gave me a loaner Gen 1 R1T. The sound was SO GOOD!
The song I focused on was Drive by R.E.M. In my vehicle the opening guitar line was blaring from over my left ear. In the loaner it was purely forward and beautifully blended. The difference was night and day.
When I got back in my truck I pointed out to the service center that the last Update notes included a details that on occasion Channel 1 was playing over other channels, especially noticeable in Atmos tracks. They agreed my sound was messed up and said they would contact Rivian engineers to see what might be needed, since the update should have fixed it.
Un the meantime I did a hard reset in a Costco parking lot (left steering wheel button and hazard lights, hold down both until the screens go dark) and let the truck sit for two hours.
When I came back the sound system was fixed! All the channels were splitting correctly and the sound was gorgeous!
I think it’s strange that the monthly update didn’t cause a Hard Reset or equivalent. In any case it was an exceedingly easy fix.
Mine is non-Meridian btw.
Now I just need to figure out why “3D Sound” appears to do nothing. I really can’t tell a difference when playing Apple Music tracks, which is all I play. But at least the inside sound is now wonderful. I love this truck!
