I have a few questions about the R1 shop. I have a Jan 2022 order date and a delivery window of April 2024. I recently requested and was unexpectedly granted access to the R1 shop.

1. What is the usual timeline to delivery if you confirm a configuration?

2. Will my access to the shop be revoked, especially since I don’t really want the car before Dec?

if it helps, I am in the NYC area and would be covered by the Brooklyn SC

This is going to vary a bit based on where you are, but I'll outline my timeline and experience with an R1T.

  • 2022 June 7th - R1T Preorder - Estimated Dec 2023 delivery
  • 2023 Mar 13th - Invited to configure (and configured)
  • 2023 Mar 14th - Invited to confirm configuration (and guide assigned)
  • 2023 Mar 14th - Requested to be put in a "Not Ready" state to keep my spot
  • 2023 Mar 14th - Invited to shop
  • 2023 July 10th - Picked truck from shop, 8 steps started
  • 2023 July 14th - Got a trade in offer (low offer, selling indepentanly now)
  • 2023 July 14th - Rough ETA of Aug 5th for service center arrival
  • 2023 July 25th - Text from SC, possible pick up "week of August 1", need to complete 8 steps
  • 2023 July 27th - Applied for Finacing on 8 steps (and also applied @ USSFCU)

If you get put into a "not ready" state, you can remain in this position indefinitely from my understanding, I sat on shop access for nearly 4 months and never lost access, I did obsessively check the shop though (can you blame me?), which was bad for my mental health.

My remaining steps are Insurance, Sign Contracts, Payment, and Schedule Delivery, however I am going to have them undo my Finance step as I will be using USSFCU due to a better rate, Rivian quoted me 7.87% and USSFCU is going to be 5.49% with the pay from USSFCU account discount, both are 84 month terms.

I was trying to get sales tax info which is part of why my financing steps were delayed, but it turns out that in Utah they have you self register, so I spun my wheels more than needed on that.

Per my original guide once it reaches the service center "It will then hop into a queue of vehicles to start a pre-delivery inspection process which could take 3-5 days or so."

With any luck I will be picking up my R1T either late next week or sometime the following week.

Hopefully this helps with outlining what the process is, if you have any questions please let me know.

Depending on where the truck is it could take a couple weeks. From what I have read the shop access could go away at the next delivery estimates update.

When I selected a config it was ready pretty quickly. I selected from the shop on the 12th of June and the truck was ready for delivery on the 22nd.

No guarantees here just going off what I have seen other folks post No possibility to take delivery sooner?

@AYAYRON yes that's with Chase.

Additionally just got an update (2023-07-28), my R1T has just arrived in SLC, but i need to get financing wrapped up otherwise I would have a delivery scheduled already.
