How did this work out for you? I'm headed out with the family, 4 people and 2 dogs, round trip from SF Bay area to Telluride and trying to figure out the best options to carry all our gear.

Thanks,
Stefan
I will be able to tell you by Saturday night. Will post a picture and my thoughts. Picking up vehicle on Saturday and putting it on immediately for my Denver to Boston trip Sunday.

Rack looks and feels sturdy, but corners are plastic which i have some concerns about long term. As long as it fits as expected, these racks are a great catch-all set up. I need it to work so my wife wont regret downsizing from a Suburban!

So will save the delivery day drama for a time I feel like whining, but got the rack on this afternoon and it fits well. Would like it to be 90” instead of 84” long as is leaves a little front and back glass exposed and unused roof at the front . Probably only 1” on each end. Went on to the crossbars without issue and feels very well attached. A little heavier than I would like, but all my Yakima equipment fits and install was easy. Best part is that it fits in the garage with the rack when in lowest height. Will add more/better photos tomorrow.

Looks great! Am I right that you are just using 2 crossbars, one at the front and one at the back? That solves the issue of the different plane of the 3 crossbar config. I might end up doing the same but I’m hoping to put a rooftop tent and a spare tire up there, which could be pushing the weight limits.

Correct. Just using the back and front mount positions. No tent for me. More for an aluminum canoe, maybe a spare tire, and to protect the glass. I thought about going with 3 and using cut pool noodles on front and back to even out, but decided this was enough. Holding up great across country and not a huge range hit.

Thanks for posting Swilly. Looks awesome. What kind of range hit are you getting and how noisy is it? With our roof box on we get a 10-15% range hit and was wondering about getting this and putting the roof box on top for our upcoming road trip from SF Bay, CA to Telluride, CO. Having the platform would allow me more storage for sure.

Congrats on your new R1S as well!

Overland Ruff Rax installed with Racks Brax quick releases for the awning and shower enclosures.
So much more quiet than the rhino rack it is hardly making any noise.

Looks great! This is the same setup the Rivian team used to complete the Rubicon trail. They also only used 2 crossbars with the Yakima platform.

Thanks! They clearly copied my set up. ?
Ha! Would love to see more pics when you get a chance. I’m thinking of going the same route.

How’s wind noise and range impact? (I’d have to leave mine on full time)
