R1S Size Comparisons to other SUVs and Trucks

I saw a Grand Wagoneer yesterday and it is huge and boxy and the R1S looks just like from the side and rear. I am beginning to think the R1S is too big for my needs. If I ever get delivery I might just flip it and wait for the R1SS

I don't know what your needs are but you do realize the GW is 14 inches longer and roughly 2 inches wider than the R1S, right? In person, that is a huge difference.

I know but the look is the same from side a rear. I mean, I won't be cancelling my pre-order but I will be reassessing if it meets my needs.

This thread is hilarious.
I agree on the fact that no one should be looking at the hood of their car while driving and that if that’s the case they should adjust their driving position as well as learn to look far ahead (that will help with accident avoidance and such).
The old Honda Pilot comparison with the R1S is the best though. The Pilot has so much rake to the whole vehicle that frankly the hood height is not even a point anymore. That comparison also shows that the hood on the R1S is sloping too…

Anyway, can’t wait to get my brick to replace my current brick.

There's nothing hilarious about a truck/SUV that doesn't have sloped hood.
When something is in your front vision that takes up 30% of visibility, you simply ignore it? You can also ignore the road in front of you. To me, non-moving object that's in front of a vision is an eye sore.

Adjusting seating position is not a workaround. You can only go so high up until your head hits the roof and your arms far above the steering wheel.

The red painted hood in this picture takes up 10% of the forward visibility (I measured), nowhere near 30%. And yes, everyone but you at least, will easily ignore this. Many of us will even use it to our advantage as I've previously described.

Frankly, you confuse me.
I thought all vehicles at a hood (except a few cab forward trucks).
How do you deal with your wipers, A pillar, dashboard, etc?
In your situation, I’d consider a chauffeur and chill in the back reading the news, or maybe any Tesla with FSD.
Based on your handle I don’t wanna go to far here as you might overreact.
I think you’ll be okay whatever route you take.

I checked again, my Raptor’s hood doesn’t slop much. My Tesla on the other hand seems to have more slope than my former 911.

I've been struggling with the same thing, and a lot of seems to depend on angles. This one, is good, it doesn't look huge. I'm in JGC now and I realize R1S is 4" wider and 10" longer. So that gives me pause. That being said, standing next to R1T - it doesn't feel huge (not like a 2500 series truck or Tahoe or one of those other beasts), so I'm thinking R1S won't feel THAT huge, but it will feel boxy based on back end.

Looking at this one - it looks hugely long. *plus I don't like yellow*

The size comparison with 2023 Mercedes EQS SUV seems a bit off? The length of the EQS suppose be be 1 inch longer at 201.8 vs 200.8 of R1S?

Honestly, I have a car (Toyota FJ Cruiser) with long, flat hood similar to the R1’s and I think you just get used to it. The only time it is even in my awareness is when off roading. It definitely can be an obstacle to seeing what is on the ground right in front of you, in that situation. However, for daily driving, I never even give it a thought. I also have an Isuzus Trooper, that I occasionally drive. The hood on the Trooper is way less visible, as it slopes away. It’s an odd sensation when moving from the FJ to the Trooper. It’s like, whoa, where did the hood go ?

Did we ever get a comparioson for a Wagoneer or Grand Wagoneer. Saw the Wagoneer the first time in real life, I'm thinking they are almost identical in size and shape. Same boxy butt and lack of anything aerodynamic.
