I think you’re right in enforcement currently being low to nonexistent. I was pulled over in 1990 in VA for lacking a front plate but am seeing more VA vehicles without front plates.

My how things have changed. Moving to the Southwest in 2004 after 30+ years inside the Beltway, law enforcement must have really changed with respect to front plates, never mind inspection stickers and personal property taxes stickers required; those were the days!

When I first moved here (1993), they were huge on driving through apartment complexes and ticketing cars w/ out of state plates (because they were skirting the Personal Property tax by keeping it registered out of state). Haven't heard much of that in recent years.

As someone registered in MD with no front plate on both cars I'll happily take the ticket.

Totally agree… front license plates ruin the aesthetic, especially with those stadium lights. CA law can suck it!

I have tried to drive around DC. Someone was probably looking for the Smithsonian and ended up at the Capitol

Just look for the Nat'l Mall can't miss it. Good luck finding parking.
