With the battery pack so low, the R1T’s center of gravity is super-low. You would have to try really hard to roll one. Mine is “on rails” turning hard at high speeds on the road. But you combine soft dirt and cranking the wheel as hard as you can with some serious torque, and here you are. Gravity is “just a theory”, but every time I challenge it, it bites me in the ass. ?

I have to call bullshit on this guy wasn't screwing around.
You're probably right, but don't you think there'd be some evidence of that on the terrain near the truck? There are no ruts. No patches of dirt suggesting doing donuts. Heck, you can't even tell the truck drove onto the field.

Well conveniently none of the photos he shared to alert everyone about this easily flippable adventure vehicle show much of the field at all, especially to the left, which is where he said he drove from. And since he will not answer even simple questions about what he was doing in the field despite being directly asked by me and many others, this story has a ton of red flags.

He shares with everyone that he called Rivian and engineers came to look at it, but won't say what he was doing other than he was "on a farm in a field"? That's greasy.

Fair enough but with how tight the pictures are on the truck you really can’t see much of anything else.

It's probably also worth noting that we have no proof that Rivian engineers came to look at his truck either. The driver is being deliberately obtuse about this except with "details" that support the idea that it wasn't 100% his fault. He knows Rivian would never comment on whether they did look at it so it's safe for him to say it even if it isn't true.

To do a barrel roll like that on flat ground, I suspect you had to be going sideways to start with. One little bump and dip and over you go. Doesn't take much speed to do so, even with a low CoG, when those sidewalls bite into the ground.

Edit: I wonder if the flimsy sidewalls of the ATs contributed in that scenario...
Flat ground? Look at the hole next to it.

I think the problem here is that the expression, "Keep the greasy side down," no longer means anything when you are driving a BEV.
I've always been a "shiny side up" kind of guy myself. I guess I'm a bit of an optimist

I don't get it either unless... someone is paying for silence? I mean, he could at least say how fast, straight or turn, donuts, was the recall completed on this T, etc.
the comment that saying too much is "bad business on my part" suggest the "more to the story" is about material compensation he expects from someone (Rivian?)

That time my wife drove into the side of our house.
She declared: “I was being careful!”
Me: “No, actually, by definition…”

Or the insurance company? The fact that he refers to it as "business" at all says a lot...

From an AE Poe short story.. “Believe nothing you hear, and only one half that you see.”

That would seem to apply here ;)

Reminds me kids in college as social media was coming out:

Them- “I can’t believe this happened to me, my life is so bad I can’t believe it, I just need help”
Everyone- “what happened, how can I help”
Them- “ I can’t talk about it”

If his goal was to warn current and future owners about potential rollovers, then he needs to provide some sort of situational details. Otherwise it’s a completely pointless post, just wait then in the first place.

Hahaha. Yeah…I’m with the rest of the feed. This was a “I’m out in a field…I’m going to try out the drift mode and hammer this thing.” Caught a soft spot in the dirt and physics takes over. I’m not criticizing here. Hell, I’ve done that shit in trucks but don’t say “hey watch out, theses things are tippy!” BS. The thing is 8400 lbs and all torque. Having fun on the farm has a price. Sorry bro…all good but that’s operator error.

Guys.... Its serious... I myself had a scary moment today. I was on freeway at 70Mph. I can see stopped traffic way ahead of me. I started slowing down yet approaching the stopped traffic. I see that right lane is open and no one in my blind spot I decided to change lane. Truck thought I won't stop or something it started applying break while I was changing lane to stay clear from stopped traffic. And while I m changing lane it started applying serious break not only that.... it started controlling my stearing wheel to straighten me turning my wheel left and right gave me a feeling of Rollover. And it went left and right on its own for nice 100 to 150 ft. And I had no control over it. Dude that's bullshit. I was not on self driving mode. My front crash warning is set to normal not early. Lane departure is set to normal not early and still it acted dangerous. I almost shit my pants. Not only that. Same morning I opened my truck with phone and when I was about to start it said phone not paired. Key fob not found. Nothing worked. Went in garage to get key fob. Everything started working normal. So it was just a glitch. But imagine if I was not at home and I only had my phone. I might have been screwed for sure. So I think they need to look into this issues.
