Hello All! Looks like I'll be migrating over from a history of BMW. I made an R2 reservation with deposit today. The iX3 just announced does not have any LFP batteries, which is all I will accept (until solid state arrives). I know RJ is very interested in LFP for Rivian, but I can't find any info on just how they will be used for R2. Does anyone yet know if we will be able to get a higher level performance and content model with RFP? I ask as some seem to think RFP is just to save cost/price, but it has other attributes I want on a higher performance and content vehicle. I don't need high range with a charger being installed in my home garage and it takes me a couple of weeks to rack up 300 miles. Thanks for any info anyone can share!

We don't know at all what the battery options for R2 will be.

The base model R1 available now ("Standard" battery) is LFP. One would presume that the base R2 would also be LFP just from a cost perspective.

If you just made your reservation you will probably have 1-2 years to watch for the battery options that end up being available…
