Aren't there a hundred other things that could fail and leave you stranded for which you can't carry a spare? Plenty of things to disturb your peace of mind if you're so inclinedSpare-- Peace of mind.........

Yup, I also carry a spare 12v.Aren't there a hundred other things that could fail and leave you stranded for which you can't carry a spare? Plenty of things to disturb your peace of mind if you're so inclined![]()
I'm aiming for summer 2027 for MY28, figure others will post their impressions long before then.Let us know how well it fits or if there’s room for a full-sized spare.
Yeah sometimes its worth it to just pay the sucker premium for just a bit of convenience and time savings vs. searching for/dealing with alternatives.it wouldn't be much of a bargain for me over Rivian's own spare pricing, so I'll just be buying Rivian's.
Family friend was housesitting for us last month, got low pressure warning while driving on local highway so pulled over. Had picked up a nail in tire edge that couldn't be repaired, so AAA guy put the spare on. Boom, easy, back on the road. Yep, I'll be carrying a spare for the same reason I'll do full front PPF - crap on roads (not that family friend would ever drive my R2).Aren't there a hundred other things that could fail and leave you stranded for which you can't carry a spare? I heard someone say you could get one cheaper at Tire Rack. It just has to have the same bolt/lug pattern and diameter, I think. It would be worth asking a tire expert. Spare tires shouldn’t be proprietary.Modern Spare is currently selling a spare for our Ioniq5 for $500, but the shipping to my locale raises the price to nearly $700. I was thinking that eventually they'd have an R2 spare, but oddly they don't seem to have a product for even R1 yet. In any case it looks like even if they did sell an R2 spare it wouldn't be much of a bargain for me over Rivian's own spare pricing, so I'll just be buying Rivian's.
If there's any chance you would move parking spot w/in a garage (with an additional outlet), a plug-in charger (NIMA 14-50) could be moved more easiliy vs. hardwired.WRT the Rivian charger vs. after market chargers, I think I'll just get the Rivian charger. I know it's more expensive and does exactly the same thing that other chargers for hundreds less cost, but it fits within my purchase budget along with all the other add-ons I plan to get. My Tesla charger has been bulletproof for 12 years. Figure the Rivian one will too (I'll include the Tesla charger when I sell Blue Steel).
And gives you slower/less charging per hour/session FWIW.If there's any chance you would move parking spot w/in a garage (with an additional outlet), a plug-in charger (NIMA 14-50) could be moved more easiliy vs. hardwired.
Yep, charging via NIMA 14-50 will max out slower than hardwired connection. And gives you slower/less charging per hour/session FWIW.
