I don't think I heard it come up in the release event or interviews since, but I was looking at a photo someone took at the Austin event and can't tell if I'm seeing one of the field kits in the trunk or the compressor kit. Anyone know?

I am not sure they would include the air compressor on this vehicle in order to save costs. Seems to me like an easy decision if you want to make the vehicle hit the price point of $45k. In this picture it doesn't look like the air compressor kit but I have the R1T and am not sure what the R1S' looks like.

I didn't see the control panel anywhere. Guessing that's first aid.

Yea, that's what I guessed too but it looked more like the compressor bag to me. Wishful thinking...

No air suspension so I would assume no compressor. back to the ol' trusty Milwaukee inflator! :)
The air suspension is a different compressor than the auxiliary one on the R1 so I was hoping that's still on. Yea, suppose it's just an old fashioned plug in unit!

To be fair, the inflator on R1 has nothing to do with the air suspension.

I think the most likely course is for Rivian to make it optional in the R2. They originally were going to for the R1, but with how significant the portion of people choosing the option was, they decided to just put it in every vehicle to reduce assembly complexity.

I expect R2 will have much fewer people taking the option.

I hope it is an an option. Keep the cost down. “I’m not buying this Rivian R2 because it doesn’t have an air compressor” is unlikely.

Pretty much. Not really a big deal to most, I would think. I keep a $25 air compressor in the underfloor storage of both of our cars.

I hope not. It's a gimmick, especially since you can buy a portable dewalt compressor for $100 that is just as capable and easier to use.

The one on the R1 is so hard to put back in the bag. It must be child proof.

If you have an R1T, you can put the bag into the hole and coil it into the bag that way. Otherwise, make one loop that fits into the bottom of the bag, do the rest of the loops in that size, stuff it all into the bag.

It didn't do any good when my 2-week old R1 took shrapnel (at least it liked like that) and got a gash on one of the AT tyres.

It's a R1S. It should go back in the bag by itself.
