I'll apologize if this is already out there somewhere (my search didn't find anything)...

After I did my test R2 drive in King of Prussia (PA), I was talking to the staff in the Rivian Space. I forgot to try it on my test run, so I asked them if the horn in the R2 was better than what we have in our '23 R1S. The guy got a sheepish look and told me that the R2 doesn't have a horn: It has a speaker!!!

He explained that's what Tesla does as well - that didn't make me feel any better. Please tell me that if it's a speaker instead of a real horn that we can at least play music out of it when we're in camping mode...

@Dark-Fx - Bonus points awarded if you compare the horn on the R2 against your T (which I'm assuming has the original dual horns) and the S (which I'm assuming has the single horn like mine).

I vaguely recall one interview with Jeff Hammoud saying that the horn speaker is the same one that does that pedestrian warning noise?

The owners guide doesn't mention the horn hardware, but does show this for the pedestrian alert sound:

It doesn't explicitly say this speaker is for the horn, but that doesn't mean there isn't an internal speaker for the horn, or that they just didn't mention it.

Feature opportunity - If the vision system recognizes a bicycle, lower the 'horn' speaker volume - gives us a 'toot' function like Ineos (but without additional buttons)

Thanks for posting the interview - it won't keep us from buying an R2, but I really was hoping for a decent horn. To get to my in-laws we have to traverse a very narrow blind S-turn and everyone who lives near there honks their horn as the enter the first turn in either direction. I'm ALWAYS nervous in the R1S because it completely fills the lane and there are a number of people who prefer to go through the S with their tires either on the double-line or actually in the other lane. At least the horn blast alerts them that someone else is coming. About the only time I'm really comfortable navigating it is at night because you see someone coming!

If it's any consolation, since it is a simulated horn, maybe they can change the sound over time or give us different horn options?

I recall seeing a video with Gjeebs and Everday Chris where they described it as sounding like "an AI generated horn."
