Rain water in gear tunnel

All,
At my in laws for Xmas. Left the r1t outside last night (I usually keep in my garage at night). It was raining like crazy and their driveway is sloped downward. This morning I went to get a bag out of my gear tunnel and it was soaked. The driver side inside gear tunnel door completely soaked, large puddle on the rubber mat, and carpet underneath that side soaked.

I’ve never had issues with it driving in the rain in the past. Anyone else experience this before and did it warrant a service appointment ? Thanks!

My guess is that the gear tunnel door was popped open slightly. Was a relative out looking at your truck that might have pushed the button, or maybe you set something on the button and didn't notice the door popped open slightly? I've never had any leaks in mind in some heavy rain.

The gear tunnel doors are supposed to be completely water tight. If not, then either it was left ajar (easy to do if you hit the button then don't open the door) or you had something stuck in the door when it last closed or you have a defective door.

When I closed and opened it - it was no different than it ever has been. though your suggestion is not an Unreasonable thought.

Ok thanks. This was the answer I was looking for. May have to leave it outside on another rainy day as a test.

I had the same issue a couple weeks ago with my R1T on a level surface, tunnel doors closed all the way, inspected closely and the water was coming from emergency release button panel on the top of the tunnel just inside the doors on both sides. Submitted service request with video and photos, spoke to rivian - not a "known issue." Added on to work order for feb. Haven't had any water since but def needs to be looked into. That tunnel is supposed to be water tight.

Mine has always been water tight. I think it is probably as others have suggested the door was left ajar.
