Literally going in and out of the charging site information yields different results. Either it's a bug here or they are having some serious complications on the server side data.

Yeah maybe is the network were you are. Give a day and check again.

Tesla charges variable rates based on location and time of day. The rate is lower than some Superchargers and higher than some others.
For charging a Rivian???
I checked and Tesla charges around $0.50 per kWh to non-Tesla EVs…
Didn’t see any near $0.36

For non-membership Magic Dock users, Boardman, Oregon is 28 cents per kWh, Moab is 49 cents per kWh. They all vary.

Yes, Tesla all vary by location, some locations also vary by time of use as well.

Certainly worth looking at the regional cost when planning your trip.

Yeah that’s very reasonable. FWIW, I think idle charge should be higher after grace time.
I agree that the idle charge should be higher or it should ramp up over time -i.e., free first 10 minutes, $.50/min for the next 10 minutes, $1/min thereafter. Especially when Rivian opens their chargers to vehicles from other manufacturers.

I think the flat 36c nationwide is Rivian's attempt to keep it simple for themselves at point in time. Even with a relatively small number of RAN, the actual electricity cost is highly variable at each location and times. I don't think they have the resources to figure it all out yet. Took Tesla a decade.
In California (and other places), I am sure they are still losing losing money only charging 36c.

It is not like it is a ton of money. If you get 2 miles per kW, 1000 miles is $180. ??
Towing a trailer, 1.1 mi/kWh. No, it isn’t a ton of money, but it’s also a cost that wasn’t budgeted for because they were still free. And currently unemployed.

I charged and paid today in Delaware. Busy charger and everyone was having issues. Make sure you have a valid payment on file. Mine went perfectly but others had to switch cards or add a card. Special pain felt by those with loaner cars and no way to pay. Customer service queue was long too.

RANs seriously need to be more than just six chargers on average per station.

Curious if the people with a loaner tried to start the charger from the app? There is a start charger button when you drill into the individual stations, seems like this should work unless it is there for a future feature for other vendors.

$.36 per kWh plus tax, at 2 miles per kWh is right under $.19 cents per mile

Gasoline in Georgia (where I live) right now is $2.75 per gallon. Provided 20 miles per gallon (in the truck of this size) on the highway, it’s right under $.19 per mile.

Does anyone see a problem here? Long-distance travel in the R1S is less convenient than the ICE vehicle but it doesn’t save any money. Plus the R1 costs $20,000-$25,000 more than a similar gasoline vehicle.

Gasoline needs to be twice as expensive as it’s now to make sense for most people to get rid of the ICEV and get an EV.

99% of the time people charge at home, which is cheaper. 99% of people's driving miles are within 100 miles from home. Add in all the other positives of EVs and still makes sense to switch. Rent an ICE for a long road trip with the current infrastructure.
