I took my R1S on an unpaved road (baby steps before I try offroading) and noticed that there was a lot of noise from the front (mostly from dash) and rear of the car. I thought this was expected and had posted the question on another thread in this forum. The consensus was that I had not aired down which might have caused the rattling. However, what I started to notice was that even on paved road, if the road has a washboard surface, I could hear the same rattling noise. This also happens when the car goes over rumble strips on either side of the road.
I submitted a service ticket to Rivian and they sent a mobile tech to look into this. We took a drive and the tech was able to hear the noise and believed that it was coming from the A pillars and rear doors. Following this, the tech opened the panels and found that some screws were not fully torqued and on the A pillar few clips were broken. I took a drive post the fix, and the rattling noise is still there.
Now this is the bigger problem as far as I can see -
1. On calling Rivian service, tney are saying they can have this checked out at the service center in February (after 5 months). If these rattling noises are due to broken clips and loose screws, wouldn't it get worse if it is not fixed immediately. I got the car delivered mid-August and I have only 2000+ miles driving to office and back.
2. The second thing I notice is that Rivian has been updating the original service ticket with the cost of service. It was 500+ yesterday and it is 1000+ today. Aren't they supposed to fix these manufacturing issues without charging the customer?
