Rear License Plate Holder?

A license plate frame is far from “essential”. It’s a vanity item at best, and the vast majority are ugly.

If Rivian tried to put anything like you describe above on my vehicle, it would have been removed by them before leaving the delivery process. My car is not a free rolling advertisement for any company. Even one as much as I support as Rivian.

I’m talking about the rear plate - and yes that’s paint. And yes the plate is going to vibrate while on there. I guess I will go find a plate on Amazon.

Who knew a license plate holder could ignite such passions - no wonder this country is incapable of having sensible discussions with each other about basic issues.

Or maybe you just don't like the answers you do not agree with. I myself see many viewpoints on here. Great exchanges, all of them.

And not worried - seen it happen. As of a few months ago i owned 9 cars, mostly old BMWs with lots of miles on them to show just that sort of "vibration" damage.

I think there is a vocabulary disconnect going on. The OP is asking about a mounting plate that goes BEHIND the metal license plate, NOT the much maligned license plate FRAME that goes on over the face of the plate.

I can understand why someone would want a mounting plate, but for the life of me can't understand why people put the dealer frame back on after their license comes to them in the mail, as is done in Oregon.

Yep, I also went with a silicone frame like that (just with a different brand).

I was going to also say that on the R1S it isn't on the bumper, it's on the tailgate, which is metal.

Simple, cheap. I don't like ones that advertise a dealer or say something silly or simply say the manufacturer name.

I felt that no frame was actually less moving parts to scratch anything in the back. I went with a sticker one in the front though there's no ideal place to put it. CA has a program for that.
