Received a very low vin

I have a PN 2023 VIN R1T 17xxx. I wonder if they reset after the calendar year of production, not the model year of vehicle.

Same here... I was issued a PN 2023 17xxx R1T VIN for my (hopefully) end of Jan delivery.

I was also told when my 8-steps opened last week that my truck hadn't been built yet... and that was on Jan 3rd 2023.

The overwhelming majority of carmakers reset VINs every model year. Only a few are a continuous running tally. (Ferrari, notably, uses 100% sequential VINs across all vehicles. You can tell from a Ferrari's VIN *exactly* where that vehicle falls in the build order among all Ferrarris ever. Obviously for high-volume manufacturers, that won't work.)

Yes, VINs were reset for 2023. I was talking to guys at the service center and they are screwed (for the short term). Up till now, everything at the service centers is based on th last 6 digits of the VIN. With 2023 models now shipping, there are duplicates showing up in their systems.

I don’t get why they don’t use the last 7, as, say, BMW does - then it captures the 10th digit.

Does it have a powered tonneau cover? If not, then you know for sure it's not an early build. As others have stated, sounds like a 2023 reset. Congrats.

I'm still glad I went with the truck over the SUV. If you don't need 7 seats and/or don't take dogs with you on a regular basis, the "need" for an SUV is greatly reduced. The benefits that come with the truck then become pretty attractive.

I initially had the R1T and switched to the r1s. After a while I started to see the need for a bed again and switched back to the R1T. Glad I did.

Once you own a pickup you are hooked on the utility and practicality of the vehicle.

I recently hauled home a 4' x 10' sheet of Sheetrock with my R1T. The unique gooseneck hinge design lets the bed extend to 7'. It's a great feature that isn't talked about much.

I don’t think that is that low, probably a mid December build.

If your Vin is PN30xx, that means it is a 2023 model. They are starting from zero for the new model year. (2022 used NN in the Vin)

They definitely reset the number for 2023. My 2023 VIN (vehicle is in transit still) is under 10 for an R1S LE. I know they haven’t shipped as many R1S’s, but the highest 2022 VINs I’ve seen are in the thousands.

Sweet! Yes they gave me a 22 and its VIN is in 3000s. On a train somewhere in PA as of yesterday after heading out last Friday from Normal to Brooklyn.
