Yes, this is an E-MTB, and so far, I really like the Piston SR. I usually just lift it onto the rack from the side. Front tire rail holds it in place until rear rail can cinch down. Weight (42lbs) is not so much an issue as the Piston is less than 20lbs and cargo crossbars are rated at 250 per pair while driving.
I have a piston sr direct from Kuat and I’d like to order a second. Rivian offers this rack for an extra $75 above what you can buy it directly from Kuat. It looks like the only difference (other than maybe some branding) is a different “quick connect” foot.
Can you speak to how easily the rack comes on and off the Rivian cross bars?

thanks,
Nathan

The Riv Piston SR mounts (2) have four thumblatch operated threaded T-Bolts that can be tightened with a hex key and then 'thumbed' down in a tensioned fit. They mount is fitted for the Riv crossbars and is a clean finish, as opposed to an over-under clamp like my Loadwarrior cage rack. Then thre is the key set from Gear Shop that can be added for security preventing the 'thumbed tension' from being accessed.

Theoretically, it should come off of the bed rails relatively easily, howeveri have yet to do so. Hope this helps. I also picked up a standard Piston SR on sale through back country just before the Rivian branded one came out, so I am in a similar dilema of having a second rack that doesn't fit quite the same (and it doesn't have the Rivian logo).

Sounds like we have the identical setup. Does the Riv Kuat look as if it can be mounted to other bars as well? If for instance if I wanted to put on my wife’s car.
My main question though remains the ease of which the rack can be slide off the Rivian bars. The Kuat branded version isn’t too bad- it just requires a tiny propriety Allen key and about 2 mins of tinkering. I’m curious how much easier/faster this is. (In the summers I take off the racks pretty frequently for other bar usage).
Thanks!

I was able to install on the Rivian cross bars in about 5 minutes, so I assume it would be a similar if not faster removal proces, I just haven't taken the Kuat off yet.
