I think the idea that black doesn't show wear is a bit of a fallacy. I currently have a white interior car and the black parts generally are showing more wear than the white seats. Dirt definitely shows more on black than white. I think the biggest concern with white is color transfer from jeans or other dyed clothing, which does happen. I've always been able to clean it away with some high quality leather cleaner though.

My biggest question with the "vegan" leather is how well it holds up compared to real leather and how easy to clean it is. If it's comparable to real leather, then I don't really have concerns about the OC interior holding up.
Based on my experience with Tesla's white seats, they are far more stain resistant than real leather and clean up easier. Black seats will still stay cleaner looking longer though.

If the "vegan" leather from Rivian is anything like Tesla's, OC seats should hold up very well and be easy to clean, save for any oil-base spills. Get to those immediately. The middle fabric strip is dark with OC, so likely no worries there.

My concern would be the fabric pillars and headliner. Those fabric areas on my Tesla pick up dirt and other stains and do not clean easily. I'd get OC myself, save for the dirt roads I drive daily as you better not have open windows in dusty areas or those light colored fabrics will show dirt real quick.

My children have stained many stain resistant surfaces. With young children markers, raspberries, etc are inevitable. Keeping them from eating and drinking in the car is fantasy. White interior for us would be a ridiculous decision. I am worried about the perforation on the ventilated seats, in the face of a bag of chip crumbs, muddy shoes, or any liquid like sudden vomit..., but I'm getting the ventilated seats anyway. In the end I think this car will be awesome with kids. We need black mountain, all weather mats, and to disable the Alexa wake word.
