Does anyone have a high pitch sound when driving? I only hear it when the back motors are engaged and most noticeably between 70-80 miles per hour.
If I switch to eco mode, then it is completely gone. The rivian guys at service center said this is normal and nothing to worry about, Im all good...
Curious if others are experiencing this. It's a very high pitch frequency.

Haven't experienced that and I do a decent bit of driving at 70-80 in AP and conserve. Good luck!

hmmm they told me they compared it to another r1T at those speeds and said the other one was louder than mine... and it is just normal EV motor sound. I'm in the 7 day window for the return policy and may say, thanks, keep it, unfortunately it frustrates me beyond belief.

On my R1T, the sound gets progressively louder as speed increases under load, but the noise is hanging in the range of other noise contributors like tire and wind noise so it doesn't stand out. If it's much louder in a range of speeds, that could be abnormal. My loaner R1T behaved the same way (and may have been slightly quieter across the range of speeds).

when you say noise, are you saying general motor noise? I hear that, and it doesn't bother me, and I expect it. This is a very high frequency, like a ringing in your ear type of noise, that is only present when all 4 motors are engaged and between 70-80 mph.

So, interesting you post this while I’m struggling with an issue that I would call a ‘resonance ringing’, service has elevated the issue and doesn’t have an answer yet… curious if it is similar to yours or entirely different.

R1T, 22” wheels, no underbody shield. 159XX VIN

I’ve isolated the ‘tone’ that I get to around 1300-1350hz. It is always the same regardless of speed, but usually occurs above roughly 30mph, but can occur slower if I hit a road imperfection just right. Road surface roughness contributes to the sound ‘starting’ and then the vehicle will resonate at this frequency like a church bell, bumps in the road or reflectors on lane markings when changing lanes adding a ‘gong’ like decay to the tone. If the conditions are right, the tone/resonance can get quite loud, as if the cause is building upon itself. Very difficult to capture via cell phone as the phone will ‘cancel out’ the tone as background noise so it’s gone when playing back the video. The tone/vibration/acoustic resonance can be felt through the floor beneath my feet when it occurs.

Smooth roads, issue non-present and super quiet, eliminating wind noise as a cause. Not tire tread noise as the tone is always the same, doesn’t increase/decrease in pitch.

Rivian service has swapped wheels/tires on the vehicle and the same situation situation still occurs. They can’t figure it out and have escalated it to the mother ship.

After typing this out, likely not at all what you are experiencing… but hey, why not mention it?

Yep, I have this too. It’s a distinct high pitched ring that isn’t correlated to the usual motor whine.

Pitch isn’t correlated with speed nor load: it’s a fixed tone.

Mine also goes away with Conserve Mode.

Also around 70 mph or so. Basically right at highway cruising speed.

I haven’t noticed it in a while though. I don’t know if that’s because I’ve just gotten more used to it or if it’s actually gotten quieter on its own.

My first R1T had a powered tonneau and spare tire and I didn’t hear motor noise that much. New R1T has no spare and no tonneau and I can really hear the noise.

I’m writing it off the noise die to lack of tonneau and spare.

I have a high pitch that starts routinely around 50 mph and seems to be coming from the right side of the R1S. It is not related to sound system as I hear it with/without the sound. So b/c it comes at certain/same mph it mush be related to a vibration that starts at the frequency of that speed.

I have a similar noise as well, most audible to me around 40-60mph. It sounds like maybe inverter noise or something generated by the power electronics. I mostly don't notice or think about it too much after having my truck for ~9mo/9k miles.

Did anyone get this high pitched frequency noise resolved?? I am having the same issue and it’s gotten louder in the back seat. It actually hurts my ears also my kid’s too.
