Community NVH Thread - Share your fixes for noises, rattles, clunks, squeaks

Are you sure it's the triangle windows? Isolating the issue, at least to a degree, is straight forward. Fixing is another thing entirely. https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/threads/service-center-cannot-correct-wind-noise-how-to-proceed.21106/post-430214

    Solved

I've never tried to purchase just the grommet from a dealership, but these seem to be fairly universal. I've repurposed them from unused mats and you can purchase them on Amazon, etc.

PSA don't let stuff grow inside your washer fluid reservoir

o.k., I thought you had some sort of coffee related accident while filling... I can sort of see myself doing that. So, is the reason for clogging due to using a non-addictive (non-OE) washer fluid?

R1S Power Outlets are the envy at garden and Home Depot

Not all tools have cordless options - I have a number of great tools that are corded or pneumatic. For example, I have a watering setup that originally used a 25 gallon tote and submersible pump which runs on 120VAC. Now I have a dedicated 100 gallon tank and more powerful pump, also corded...

First problem with my R1S, and it's a big one. Bolt backed out

Yes, tighten if possible and get service involved. It does look like the bolt head has been worn down / rounded off, probably due to rubbing on the half-shaft or whatever that is. It may not want to tighten too much because of this but getting it at least snug would be good.

backing with a trailer ... not

It's likely you were lifting your butt with your seat belt off. Under these conditions, the parking brake will set.

Which magsafe charger would you get?

Really just boils down to your needs and preference. I chose the s00nish because I put my sunglasses in the bowl, or wallet, or anything I need quick access to, so a cover isn't going to help me. Anything I want to hide is generally larger than the bowl. Also, the topo map of Mount Rainier is...

Tesla refusing to buy back Cybertruck or allowing buyer to sell elsewhere

A sale did happen yesterday for $160,000: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2024-tesla-cybertruck-4/ Another one a few days back reached $158,000 but failed to meet reserve: https://carsandbids.com/auctions/3RyYX4Nx/2024-tesla-cybertruck-foundation-series Others are listed. It doesn't appear...

Downside to discharging only to ~50%

Your depth of discharge sounds like it's typically around 30% (80-50%) before you recharge. Minimizing this is generally a good practice for battery longevity. Even 20-25% would be fine (charge to maybe 70-75%) but don't stress about it either way.

I keep coming back to the thread. I so00o want it to be more info on the RX3. 😢

How to Improve a Rivian R1T's Meridian Sound System w/ Simple EQ Changes (Equipment Measured Tests & Results) + Comparison to Elevation System

Thank you for the hard work on this! I will try these out on my R1T Meridian today. BTW: Your settings: Use these EQ settings: 63 Hz -3 notches, 125 Hz -3, 1 kHz +3, 2 kHz +3. Are different than the ones recommended by Linus' Labs for the Meridian R1T: I thought the Linus settings were...

    Ocean Coast Steering Wheel

Sure, but if all we care about is saving Rivian money there's some lower hanging fruit that I think Rivian is addressing already. In any case, OC isn't something I'd consider for a few reasons but a tan (on the orange side of tan) interior would be nice, similar to what we saw in the R3X.

    R3X, R3 and R2 driving videos - spotted live @ Laguna Beach

I reserved an R2 and was proceeding to try to convince my wife that she needs one. Then she saw the R3X. After that It was all over. No R2 will be purchased, but I'm very excited by the R3. If she doesn't get one, I will. 👍

Would you Sell to Carmax for 72k or Private Sell for Possibly 76-78k?

Yeah, sadly Vroom is gone, I like to have as many choices as possible. I sold to them twice because their offers beat everyone else. I also use consignment from time-to-time which I think works well for certain types of vehicles, but I don't think this is a good fit for a Rivian.

Would you Sell to Carmax for 72k or Private Sell for Possibly 76-78k?

I've been through the private party sales thing several times and I had maybe one experience that actually went well. I've waited for people that didn't show, had to follow someone to their credit union and then got an illegal u-turn ticket, had dog shit tracked into my house over my carpet, had...

    What's your R2 predictions?

Not predicting... but hoping... for a 2-row R1S-ish vehicle but lower and sleeker with ridiculous acceleration. Think Porsche Macan. But I know I won't get this.

Rivian needs to update software fix for backup camera freezing while backing out of garage (going from dark to bright lighting)

I'm in the daily camp on this one. If it never happens to you, see if your screen changes day/night modes when backing up. The delay is typically around one second. For the first time yesterday, this happened in my driveway, before I entered the garage. It was a fairly dark morning and as soon...

Am I missing something... are people uneducated about EVs and won over by free charging?

People assign a disproportionately high value to free stuff. Then there's the sunk cost fallacy. People stick around longer than they should not recognizing the benefit of giving up. I bet some of these people were hoping the line would move a bit quicker. Plus, maybe it's fun to brag to your...

Installing EV Sportline Running Boards this weekend, what do I need?

Not having to cut the panels saves having to source the 4" hole-saw or some other method to cut slots. Bonus points if you have a torque wrench to use to tighten the TP55s so you can hit the 80 lb ft (or whatever the latest spec is...)
