Replying to all - 1/4in thick stamped aluminum is just stronger then any factory plastic.
replying so I can watch this thread for your product availability for R1T

Just a bit RnD on R1S this morning…
Good thing is it’s 100% like R1T.

Just asking probably again, if there are plans to replace the silver plastic piece at the top of your image?

Yes, we see necessity, and that's on the plan, we are capable of stamping something like the one for Jeep below; as long as we have some decent mounting points, and if our 2024 RnD schedule allows ...

I would love to see something for the entire belly for those of us without the Rivian Skid plate. Is that what you are thinking?

Do you mean to cover/replace this central plastic

I would say best to cover the central plastic not to replace it for those of us without the factory RUS steel belly plate.

I believe so. I have not seen the difference under the "Off road" and "normal" R1T. I asked the Rivian Guide Person when I was in for service and he told me he could tell if I had the Off Road skid plate or not. When he looked he said I did not have it and when I asked if I could buy the upgraded plate he said it was different and not possible.

Is this the case? Either way it would be great to have full protection under there!

This is what I am hoping for....front skid plate. But Rivian made it less than easy with that integrated plastic chunk that is finished in silver to look like a skid plate.

We could throw a stamped aluminum sheet there. Will consider.
@RIVAL 4x4 Yeh, I think a sturdy stamped aluminum sheet to replace that silver plastic piece would go a long way. Ideally, it would closely match the shape and form of the OEM plastic piece as to not introduce aero and noise issues.

Personally, I like the subdued form and shape of the OEM plastic, but would prefer if it were metal (aluminum or steel).

I would design the front skid so the silver plastic gets trimmed off and the new skid extends under the front, replacing the composite material skid. For the underbody skid, I would prefer steel with ribs so bolt heads are protected in the valleys and steel slides over rocks better than aluminum that can gouge.

Picture for an example of my 4runner gas tank skid which has slid over a rock or two. Aluminum would probably have deep gouges in it.
