Anyone else concerned about the air suspension? Just got finished converting a vehicle from adjustable air ride suspension to traditional coil overs after years of problems and far too much money. Having been dropped into deep sand 9 miles from a road due to a suspension computer programming glitch, I'm worried about long term reliability. Anyone know if the R1s can be converted to standard suspension components?
I got my R1T in March. Had a tie-rod problem (you can find the saga on another thread) and last weekend had the rear air suspension blow (system cannot elevate out of lowest setting - and sound of rushing air as if it is trying to blow air but it just comes right out). And to answer the obvious question I wasn't doing anything fancy - it was just sitting still at a high setting. Getting Rivian to look at it Tuesday. Not pleased that I have had the truck for 4 months and this is second time at having the vehicle out of commission. Last time took 2 weeks to resolve, who knows this time. My general conclusion with the truck is that it is incredibly capable, but not reliable. Comparable to a Landrover. Can't wait til Toyota comes out with a fully electric Tacoma - will happily trade in the R1T then.

Sorry to hear. This is exactly what I was worried about. Chased an air suspension problem in a Grand Cherokee for years before converting it to traditional shocks. Air suspension randomly dropped out once while I was miles down a deserted beach stranding me. Thankfully I had cell service and was able to eventually get help. Be interested to know what the issue was and if there are any work arounds for truck dropping itself down.

Of course my S was delivered with an air suspension problem. It randomly lowers itself while it is sitting. Sometimes it’s overnight. Sometimes it’s after 15 minutes. Sometimes it’s both fronts. Sometimes it’s a little drivers side and a lot of passenger side. Sometimes it comes back up right away. Other times it takes a few minutes. Sometimes it will raise up when I try to raise it up. Sometimes I have to lower it to make it raise up. Rivian has an air suspension problem. Feels so great to be proven right ?
