Rivian bike mount doesnt work for me, some questions

Meant to be, yes. But what's in the spot where an actual lock core should be is a plastic plug. Because locks are extra and not included with the rack, and you can buy a kit on Amazon.

Oh that’s weird and cheesy. So are people getting that or doing something else? I want to lock the rack and the bike

Locks are an upgrade and aren't included with the racks. You can buy a kit on Amazon. There are two locks to secure the rack to the crossbars and one lock for the cable to secure the bike to the rack.

Crazy that the thing has integrated locks that are incomplete and you have to buy the kit. Anyway I got one and now things lock fine and nobody stole the rack before I got it locked down.

It's an industry thing. For our Audi I got Thule crossbars and a Yakima bike rack and I had to buy separate lock kits for both.

check out 1up racks. You can slide it into a position that works for your bike without a problem. Just buy the flush mount racks and you're set. I have 2 mounted, but you could easily fit 3 and possibly 4.

1up racks work well on the Rivian. I got a flush mount and it works perfectly in the Rivian crossbars. It hangs of the back of the bed about 5", but it works well and looks good. No locks though, so you need to use a big chain lock.

After turning it around and getting the missing locks the Yakima rack works. Wasn’t a great experience but that’s just documentation and perhaps assumed industry knowledge. Rivian could do better there as the reseller/repackager.

Yeah, I agree here. They seem to have an exclusive agreement with Yakima with is great for some things (crossbars are great, tent seems nice enough, etc.) - but the bike rack is a real bummer and IMO they shouldn't even sell it. Options from 1UP or Kuat are a way better fit for the R1T bed.
