Rivian Borealis Color Question

To all I am torn between the Catalina Cove and Borealis color for the R2 when I order. I test drove the Catalina Cove and the color is absolutely beautiful in person. I know there is no way I will be able to see Borealis as the color has not come out yet. Is there anyone in the Maryland, Virginia or Washington DC area that has the Borealis R1S that would be gracious enough to meet my husband and I to see what the color looks like in person? We would be happy to take anyone to lunch or dinner or provide you the money to take yourself if you would meet us as a token of appreciation. Any takers please, please let me know and respond.

The Showroom I went to had painted panels.

Those panels really don’t show what it looks like in the sun. If you can’t find someone with an R1 in that color (I am nowhere close sorry) maybe ask if you can take the panel outside and see in real sun and shade what it looks like.

I was able to take the panels outside at my showroom FWIW. Granted, not the same as on the vehicle but it helped.

Unfortunately R1’s in Borealis are not very common, I have never seen another one besides ours. I was told by Rivian that there were about 400 R1S and 400 R1Ts made in Borealis. But I don’t really know if that is accurate. Hopefully you find someone nearby.

That’s such a unique color and it goes great with the Compass Yellow accents of the R2 Performance (purple and yellow are complementary colors after all). You can really see the metallic shine in that photo, too. You’ll definitely want to see it in the sunlight and shade. Rivian describes it as this:

“… a metallic plum with deep black tones inspired by the edges of the Earth.”

Based on that description and what I’ve seen online (not in person) it looks rather dark in the shade.

Yeah, that’s got to have a stealth wrap on it. I don’t like the color muted like that, but to each their own.

There's one in my neighborhood. It mostly looks black until the sun hits it, then it looks like the photos posted.

I have a Borealis R1S and love it, though she who must be obeyed really misses the perfectly good Canyon Red that we traded to get Borealis. I have a reservation for an R2 and am torn between a second Borealis (is it too weird to have two cars that look nearly the same in the same color?) or Catalina Cove to maybe mix it up a bit. If they offered Canyon Red even in a limited edition, I would so jump on that.

I am on a personal quest to try to convince people to stop filling the streets and parking lots with boring colors - no more black, white, silver, and gray please. Rivian should bring back Compass yellow, add a lime green and a bright orange, and how about a deep deep red like those amazing colored Mazdas.
