What? Only reason, and few more, I bought my R1S. It is friendly and cute; rather than obnoxious like other trucks and SUVs.I truly believing that if Rivian came out with a round headlight similar to the Jeep Wrangler they would have pulled a lot more customers. Everyone I talk to love the truck except for the headlights. I feel the same. Rivian please change them. If you do I will sell my Tesla and buy a Rivian.
Nice headlights too
I have no idea. Why am I still reading this thread?
Can you please rewrite that so I can understand? Thank You!You forgot a category: did people buy it cuz they don’t two steaming do-dos about the friggin’ lights!
Are you telling me you do not like a car that looks like a beaver? LOLCan anyone tell me why the new BMW EVs have those horrendous fucking grills? Kill me. I love the looks of those cars but come on..is it to just fill the space with something? Good lord.
Correct me if I am wrong. The poll was done on this Rivian forum. I may be wrong but I think most people on here own a Rivian.Especially considering that poll was well before most people had even seen the Rivian in person. Definitely better looking than in photos.
Let’s face it the front headlights are controversial, a lot love them, a lot do not. I am not to sure they won’t change the headlights at some point. I was under the impression that Compass Yellow was rooted deep in the core of Rivian development too. But, and correct me if I am wrong, they discontinued Compass Yellow as a vehicle color and some of the newer models have brake calipers that are not yellow. Bottom line, is if a design change will sell significantly more vehicles Rivian would be foolish not to change.Yep, I'm willing to bet they will not..... because I know something you apparently don't, lol.
The shape of the R1 headlights runs deep in the core ethos of the company. It was stated in an interview that the designers were trying to come up with a unique headlight design that would speak to the brand ethos of "Adventure". There was a carabiner on the table that sparked the inspiration for the headlight design, and that design pattern is used elsewhere in the vehicle, specifically the key fob and the tie downs. The headlight design has deeper meaning than BMW's iconic kidney grille or the Ford Mustang tail lights.
I would be extremely surprised if they changed the basic design on the R series. It's about as likely as:
- Chevrolet ditching the bow tie logo
- Porsche ditching the iconic 356/911 family design pattern
- The United States replacing the Bald Eagle symbol with the turkey.
Yes, but that doesn't mean your headlights need to look so terribleThe way to make a name for yourself as a new company isn’t to copy someone else’s design language. Rivian‘s headlights are unique to their brand.
Maybe in your world but not mine, on both statements.I’ve received multiple comments from people who tell me they love the headlights. Never had someone tell me they hate them. Positive comments came from women, who are key decision makers in most vehicle purchases.
Now that is the way the front end should look!I agree that the design is so so but I have moved passed it. Overall the best description I have heard is the front looks cartoonish. However community renderings of the R2 front look pretty good.

I want a vehicle exactly like the Rivian with better looking headlights. Not going to find that in a jeep. It would be easier to modify the Rivian. Thank you for being so insightful. If you want a vehicle that looks like a Jeep, buy a Jeep.
