I think the R1 styling overall is very good, but I agree that the headlights are the weak spot in the styling of these vehicles. I'm not at all a fan of the headlights, but they are unique and I can look past the headlights because the rest of the vehicle looks really good to me.
I am in complete agreement. Just got back from running errands and saw 4 R1t's.. I love the look of it. If I needed a new car I would get one in a heartbeat.

Funny, I mentioned to my friends about the grief I received on this forum they all agreed that the headlights are not attractive. Did you ask people that knew you had the Rivian. If I had a friend with a car and I did not like something about it I wouldn't tell them. I would be happy for them.
The most unbelievable part is that you have friends.

If you go to a BMW G80 forum and tell them that their beaver tooth grill is ugly, you'll get a very similar response as you got in this thread. Yet it's clearly obvious that the majority of people who don't own a G80 think the grill is horrendous. It's an obvious bias for sure.

Amazing, huh? I clearly don't talk to as many R1 owners as you. ?
Or all the complete strangers that have come up to me in public and told me so. I'm sure they were all just lying to spare my feelings even though they went out of their way right? You people are something else. The two people who don't even have a Rivian trolling the Rivian forum don't hold a valid opinion.

Sounds like a very scientific poll.

Honestly, just about everyone I've talked to about Rivians say the same thing----great looking vehicles, other than the headlights.

I'm not sure where the divide is here, other than the fact that most on this forum who are supporting the headlight design are owners. For non-owners, I think the majority would prefer a different headlight design. But hey, that's fine, isn't it? Different opinions make the world go around....
This is actually totally fine. What always fascinates me about this is the non-owners showing up in enthusiast forums intended primarily FOR owners who show up and say things like "if X were different I might buy one of these, what do you think of that guys?" And the answer is, without you asking, none of us think about it. We don't think about non-owners, we don't think about reasons to NOT buy, because we clearly were not put off by X thing enough for it to keep us from buying. And then when the non-owners stir up shit they always play victim like oh "tough crowd in here!" No, it's no different than talking sports and shitting on someone else's team and expecting them not to give THEIR reasons FOR liking the team. This discussion is about things that aren't going to happen, it's a pointless discussion so someone can gripe and pretend they'd buy a thing "if only... " and expecting current owners to indulge their fantasy and that IS the weird thing. Owners not going out of their way to indulge non-owners who are not asking questions that have some kind of actual answer is actually normal and expected behavior.

The Internet is fucking weird

If you think your opinion is more valid than anyone else's opinion, then you clearly have a narcissistic opinion of yourself.

And don't look now, but if you read this thread, there are plenty of people who said they didn't originally like the headlights and some who said they still don't really like them.

The real question is why does this bother you so much? Be secure in your choices and opinions and don't get so bent out of shape when people disagree with you. This is so clearly a sensitive area for you. Ask yourself why.

I'm not an owner. I strongly considered buying an R1S to replace my Grand Cherokee and I still might in the future. But for now I decided to sit on the sidelines and wait a while to see how things pan out. And no, I don't like the headlight design, but I also mentioned that I like the rest of the styling enough that the headlights wouldn't prevent me from buying a Rivian.

That's my honest assessment. Some here think that posting such an opinion is trolling. Or stirring the pot. Or completely invalid because I'm not an owner. Sorry, but I don't see it that way. I could very well be an owner in the future . And only then would my opinion matter? No, that's not the way life works.

Ah, the "who hurt you" maneuver!

@Donald Stanfield are you ok? ?

I've had some folks say pretty nasty things, but it was in a "fundy" area and it was strictly anti-EV sentiment.

I'm an owner and I can say I still don't love the front end. When I first saw a Rivian at the L.A. auto show years before it was released, I hated the front end and wrote the truck off as being an option. In the years since, I've learned to accept it, but can't say it's grown on me to the point where I like it. Many EV's in the past used to do some wild look just to scream "look at me, I'm different". Rivian wanted their own signature and the front is where they put it. Fortunately, the rest of the truck looks great and it is overall a great truck.

With my modification, it helps to distract from the one thing I'm not a fan of. That front end is literally the only thing about the truck I don't love. The many positives fortunately outweigh the one negative!

Same, could not have said better. Coming up on 2 years ownership....It hasn't grown on me. I don't like it at all.
