I am just curious how many owners are having the follow issue? I was driving my Rivian R1S on the road then all of sudden my Rivian lost all of its driving power. I floor the pedal and it will jerk a little bit and put out a little bit of power then it would lose power again. I still have 75% battery and the screen is still lit. The tire regeneration is off as well. on the dash board it would say “ Performance Limit”.

Something is wrong in the drive-line or it’s a software glitch. For the latter, try a reset. Otherwise put in a service call. Unfortunately it’s happened to others.

Never happened to me. Definitely get it serviced ASAP if a full reset/sleep cycle doesn't fix it.

I had this happen after my JuiceBox charger melted. Next morning I saw the light in the charger door was red and a charge error on screen. I unplugged and drove to a store, and lost power. After pulling over I did a hard reset and the haven't had an issue since. I put a ticket in and SC said to monitor if it happens again and contact them if it does. This was about a year ago.

Yeah. I did a hard reset and the same. Problem. Had to be towed to a Rivian center that is 90 miles away. And I need it pick it up once it is done. Another long trip, definitely not other luxury company service where they tow it back to you.

Unfortunately I’m learning that Rivian service is FAR from other luxury service. Such a disappointment

Hi all,

I'm also in the same boat as the OP. It happened this past Saturday, and I was fortunate to only be 2 miles from home. I happened to have the new gauges screen up and noticed that the sporadic power was only going to the rear wheels. Limped the truck home and immediately called Rivian. We went through a full reboot of the system as well as a 30 min sleep cycle reset. Nothing worked.

I have to be honest, the Rivian tech on the phone was outstanding and very helpful as well as informative. With that said, they are sending a flatbed to pick it up one week from today and it's scheduled to be worked on the following day, Tuesday.

Fingers crossed. More to follow.

Rivian is not marketing itself as a luxury brand.

I have quad motor. I got the car back this Wednesday. I was told the CV shaft on the driver side is faulty. They replaced it and now it is working fine till tonight. Which I got another error message stating “Service 12V Battery system”. I called Rivian again and did a reboot. Now it is working again. I am hoping nothing else will occur next week.

We just had similar situation. We were driving in the carpool lane down the 405 freeway in LA, the busiest freeway on the US & our R1T lost power. All the guages lit up as fault and a caution message popped up saying Performance is Limited” it was crazy, the car wouldn’t go any faster than about 10mph. There is no left side shoulder, so we had to limp across 4 lanes as cars were screaming down the

We just had the same thing happen yesterday. We were driving down the 405 Freeway in LA and the car lost power. All the guages lit up as not working and a messages popped up saying Performance is limited. The car wouldn’t go any faster than 10 mph. It was crazy, we were in the carpool lane near the Getty museum and here is no shoulder on the left side, so we had to limp across 5 lanes as cars were screaming down the hill. We immediately called the Roadside support & the hard reset they had us try did not work, the system would not shut off.

We were on our way to LAX for a flight so we had to slow drive 3 miles to an exit where we could get off and leave the car. We had to get an Uber to the airport before the tow truck could arrive so we had to park the car with enough room in the front for a tow truck to drag it up a flatbed.. The car wouldn’t lock so we had to leave it unlocked. We fly back tomorrow so we have to get a rental & drive to the Rivian service center and find out what is wrong. The car only has 300.miles, we’ve had it for less than a week and this was our first freeway trip. My wife who was in the passenger seat has now stated she’ll never drive the car on the freeway because she doesn’t think it’s safe. I’m not sure I do either.
