The way I read the preorder agreement, Rivian is requiring that your intent is to buy the vehicle for your own use, not to immediately resell the vehicle. I believe your example of deciding to sell after purchase is something Rivian or most anyone else would not try to stop or blacklist someone for.But in my case if I go through with my order of the R1S without even seeing the color, interior space, test drive, etc. and find out the vehicle is too small for my family of five then I am for sure going to try and resell it. Rivian can't tell me that I can't....
(Given Rivian's plans to try to control all revenue streams, it will be interesting to see how used Rivian sales actually work a few years from now)
Admittedly, Rivian can't really know intent in many cases, I'm assuming people are being honest when they made the preorder and purchase agreement for sake of discussion.
