I find it completely ridiculous that anyone would choose them for tires, and that they would get involved in it as a business. Makes no sense for either party. I just posted about a tire problem in the tire section which would really suck if my tires were from Rivian.

I got a flat in my tire wall driving down from the mountains 10 days ago. I was VERY GLAD I'd bought the inflatable spare or it would have been a lot more drama.

I didn't bother to contact Rivian - just went straight to Discount Tire who are much closer. They had 2 Rivian approved options for my 21s (yes - I know - lucky me on the 21s....) - the original pirellis and some michelins. They had the pucks and got it done within an hour.

With other vehicles I'd owned - I'd never have gone back to the dealership for something like tires, and here in Denver at least - there's absolutely no reason to either for Rivian. Plenty of other options.
Which Discount in Denver did you use?

Reminds me of the car dealers that tried to get into the oil change business, with sales and special deals, and things like a 30 minute guarantee. EASY MONEY! UPSELLS! Nah, they all stopped because they were chasing pennies on the ground while there were dollars on stage.

I used the one at 300 W Hampden Ave, Englewood, CO 80110, although from what they said - any of the ones around could have handled it. I was concerned they didn't have the pucks, but they told me they see a lot of Rivians. I had a good experience with them and would definitely go back.

For a company that needs revenue, they don't seem to want to make money.
Not sure what the kickback is on the extended warranty per purchase but they need to own that up nation wide.

If Joe "I am under the impression an EV is special" wants to pay Rivian their hourly rate to do a winter changeover they are making money. Their $200/hr rate is more than enough to make money on the labor of an entry level tech. Giving free car washes after a warranty service is what costs them money.

And yes, any garage can change or rotate tires. That doesn't mean there aren't people who would rather go to their dealer to have the dealer do it. Do I rotate my own tires? Yes. Do the Volvo, Subaru, and VW dealers that we bought our prior vehicles offer paid tire rotations, balances, and winter changeovers for $$? Yep. Why? Because it makes them money.

I do my own rotations and had Discount Tire come to my house to install new tires. Can't see going to Rivian for that.

You mean with the mobile service fleet of vans that they have? 😂

They actually try to avoid mobile tire stuff for safety.

Rivian. Sorry, that was unclear.

They are worried about slopes that could create an unsafe situation for the tech.
