Rivian offering classes at my local Tech School

I hope that means they are considering a new Service Center in my city of Winston Salem as well! If not it’s still cool they will offer a class to young people interested in the EV field. One downside or something positive depending on a persons stage in life, is having to relocate to where a current Service Center is located.

Would be smart to start using VW dealerships to start servicing Rivian’s. After they graduate the course first.

FWIW- I heard the Transportation Secretary mention the other day on the news the dire shortage of Air traffic Controllers and specifically the low interest in the job and the training. He then closed with... "after 3 yrs on the job your pay will be $160k/year"

Not that I'm comparing a Rivian tech with an ATC, but there are well paying jobs out there for young people. Rivian's going to have to pay well if they want to attract help.

Pay will be around 74k at a Rivian Service Center according to what A.I. on my IPhone 16 found. I don’t know the accuracy of that, but that amount seems reasonable to me.

Eh. Announced the same here in Virginia Beach just over a year ago and we aren't on the roadmap to get a SC.

That would be great to see them partner with tech schools and vocational colleges to train students in EV repair. Might even prompt me to go back to go back to my local community college and finish that automotive certificate program I started 28 years ago. Think my credits in "Fuels I" and "Fuels II" would still count towards a cert? ?

I’m pretty sure they had to do the same thing in Normal for factory employees. After Mitsubishi left, the area didn’t have that population of trained auto workers anymore.
