Wow big patch of snow for Sept 9th. IIRC that lake is at about 10,000’. Was it cold up there? Campable that time of year? (looks like you camped at much lower elevation near the trailhead where I bet night time and morning temps were much more pleasant)
We camped halfway up the trail at about 8,700 feet. The lake is at about 9,700 and the trailhead is something like 7200.

Yeah it wasn't too cold. I think mid 50's. There was a lot of thunderstorms rolling through so that kept temps on the warmer side actually.

Rivian says not to go below 31 psi with the 20s. Not sure if its conservative or what, but its in the manual apparently.
Sounds quite conservative. I've gone much lower when i'm in the dunes without issues (famous last words).

I'm probably over 1,000 miles off road and haven't had any issues in the mid 20's outside of dunes trips.

Tires... I am surprised that nobody has talked about Toyo MTs here when considering a serious off-road tire. It is what most run in my area, and is particularly resistant to the sidewall damage you show, and because of the massive sidewall lugs really delivers when aired down.

Granted, these things kill your range when commuting, but for off-road, they are beasts; this is the tire we used this year to really test the R1Ts limits off-road.

Very nice! Awesome drone work as well

I love mammoth area and looking to do a trip next week. Laurel is on the list. Did funnel lake/coyote flats out of bishop last year which was amazing as well (in a jeep but rivian would be fine too)

well, yeah they’re M/Ts! I can’t afford that big of a range hit for most of my adventures, so I’m stuck with ATs. Likely swapping with KO3s when these are shot.

Coyote flats is an awesome trail. It’s been closed all year but excited to get back up there next season.

Which drone do you have? Guessing someone else in your group was manning that drone if you were driving

I have a Mavic 3, and I was actually flying while driving. Active track doesn’t work far away enough to get the views I wanted to I had to fly it.

In this video I use active track more.

I started out watching that video thinking I've taken a shit box Buick lesabre up trails like that. Until you hit that rocky hill. Then I realized the difference.

If you’re talking about the Laurel lake trail, the roughest part is actually the first half that isn’t filmed at all here. I’m not sure if it’s always been that rough but it’s probably a 4 or a 5 right now.
