As I suspected, this is materially only going to benefit YTbers and social media influencers. Us common folks will see very little benefit. I get that "celebrities" bring in advertising, PR, clicks but kind of a joke to 99% of the Rivian community tbh.

And that special event for 25 referrals? What an absolute joke! Just more evidence this is for celebrities. What they should have done is make it a raffle where they will randomly select 100 customers who have at least 1 referral and the more referrals you have the more entries you get.

Man, if I could convince 25 someones to buy 25 Rivians, Rivian should pay me a *salary* since I'm doing a sales job full time.

Reminds me of the time Tesla tried to convince me to convince 50 people "in my neighborhood" to get solar panels so I could get a 'free' backup battery. Like...no. YOU do your sales job. I don't have time to do your jobs for you for bupkis.

This crap should be illegal. OK, maybe that's extreme, but in all seriousness: I would provide a referral code if someone I knew was sincerely looking to purchase a Rivian. That's it. That's the extent of the 'trouble' I'd go through to essentially do a job for free for some (seriously overpriced) gear shop merchandise....

Concur, it largely benefits folks with a big soapbox. I really think that there should be a concerted effort by the community to push referrals to people who personally help. Those of who make a non-mass-media impact via in person conversations or individual contribution to the community.

That is a big fat Yawn from me. Where is the benefit for the person getting the referral, ie. a financial incentive, even if only $500 or something like that. I don't see this being wildly successful. Who is going to refer 25 people.....?

Well , i sold at least 2 to 3 rivians to the people i know but that was based on my excitement which was based on the vehicle and emotions it gives not for questionable points but rather because i believed in the product but here is a catch : I keep on telling rivian than no referral will make buy a 150 K vehicle, it is not a dishwasher or something everyone needs and can afford but if the quality of the product and reliability is top notch it will speak for itself, look at the Toyota, there is not much to it and it isnt cheap by any stretch but people ate believing in robustness of it and that it will last them a lifetime , people pay for their beliefs more then anything else. So that should be their priority!
In my case i had my truck 5 times in a shop within one year and each time they replaced drive unit and drive shafts because they didn’t look and try to find the roote cause and just keep following blind Rivian guidance, each service i would gestimate was about 10-15K and after all they offered a buy back or replacement, based on my experience i was extremely hesitant to go for replacement and took cash , so even they handled my case like no other manufacturer how can i refer rivian to anyone???
Have to admit still adore the vehicle and hopefully one day will own one again, but now im super hesitant, so only time will tell.
