It's something the R1 didn't have AFAIK so it becomes a 7000 lb brick if it needs towing (from all the stories about it being dragged out of a driveway with skid marks)...

Most of those instances are a result of the electronic parking brake failing, or the gear train failing. You can just put the truck in neutral to free roll it up onto the flatbed.

Parking brake can actually be released with a 9V battery. Rivian sells a kit but it's not necessary.

I put a jump pack on the 12V leads in the back and got nowhere. Tow driver, who has towed a lot of Riv's back to Colorado Springs, was convinced we would never get it out of park.

Your Owner Guide and Tow Operator Guide list recommended specs for jump packs: “must maintain a steady voltage between 13 V and 16 V at 30 A”. Most jump packs are made for ICE and are focused on delivering a short burst of peak power so the engine could turn over and fire. They are not made to deliver sustained power.

And if your 12V is gone far enough, and cannot accept charge, no jump packs can revive it. At that point, it’s dolly and tow, or release parking brake and tow, or install new 12V on the spot.
