Not sure why people are so hung up on the kWh capacity. Rivian has produced a 400 mile range truck which is what people wanted.
Who cares if a EV truck gets 400miles of range with local/urban driving where there are plenty of charging options available.
The MP does not deliver the 400 mile range for the customers that needed it for road trips (70-80mph), towing, adventuring/off grid camping. Kwh is what correlates to towing range or off grid camping viability.
11kwh gets you a measly extra 10-18miles (7-12%) towing increase not a 30-54 miles(21--36%) increase.
The Chevy 3WT has similar range to the MP however when towing it's range is 35% better due to the additional KW.
There is a reason the Large +/- pack is not too popular.

Highway range of 300 miles is usually plenty.

But do the math for going into a remote area. 40kWh each way. Add a 20kWh safety buffer. So 100kWh just to get to the destination. On the large pack that leaves 35kWh to use in the wilderness for both travel and camp use. That doesn't work. There is no practical work around for that deficiency. We can't just bring an extra five gallons of gas.

Maybe they’ll quietly start pushing them as a no charge upgrade to clear them out?

That’s one feature I think they screwed up on, and should just discontinue. Buying again, what I have is plenty, I don’t have range anxiety at all. I would get the same size battery next time.
I would not. The R1T large pack works for us, but BARELY!!!!:)

We got to Mammoth just about every other weekend in the winter from Newport Beach. We got r1t/quad/large because it was what was available. I love the car, but it would be nice to have the max pack. If we leave our house with a 95% charge we can make Olancha with a 12% charge if we're lucky. I hate the inyokern RAN, so it would be really nice to leave home with 85 or 90 % and be able to get to Olancha easily, rather than having to either charge to 95% at home, which is higher than I would like to go, or leave with 90% and have anxiety. Usually we just end up charging in inyokern. For us, that extra range would mean something.

I do realize this is somewhat the product of our DINK/flexible schedule lifestyle. For most people the large pack is fine. We can make it work, but more range would be nice. My guess is that most people need less range than they think.

If you tow frequently like I do, 6000lbs boat, Silverado with 200+ kWh is a fantastic deal at its price point. But it’s mammoth weight gives me a pause. Battery weight needs to come down if consumers are to be fully ready for EV adoption. 9000 lbs trucks and 6000 lbs passenger cars are not good solutions.
Ha, it's always something before we "adopt". First it was EVs need to exist, then they needed bigger batteries, then better charging. Now they need to be lighter?

We all need a reality check on what we "need".

A 7000lb vehicle as a daily driver is also arguably excessive.
Not when you live in a US City where most drivers aren't paying attention to driving. We've been driving cars over 2 tons for decades almost specifically larger, heavier German or Japanese. My LX570 was 6K pounds, Chrysler Pacifica (R-Class Mercedes rebadge) over 5K pounds. Was hit by drivers not paying attention in both over the years. Most recently years ago rear ended my wife & daughter in her Pacifica at a stop sign going 65 in a 35. They were life flighted and we drove our car home to make lunch and go in the pool.

Efficiency is meaningless if your 40-60MPG car gets hit by a G-Wagon driver doing her makeup.

I will always take a little extra range, but the value is downright awful.
