Used the new R1T for a CFB tailgate for the first time yesterday. Had planned to use the R1T's hotspot to connect a Roku and watch games. However, I could not get the Roku to find the R1T's hotspot signal. The hotspot was definitely on; I was able to connect to it with my phone. We tried restarting the Roku, manually adding the network, and turning the hotspot on/off. Nothing worked. Is there something with the type of wifi network the R1T hotspot produces that is incompatible with Roku devices?

The manual doesn’t mention anything about the network being different, other than it needs an LTE connection to provide wi-fi. I have had issues with Roku not being able to connect in the occasional hotel room in the past, so it may not have been anything with the truck.

If you had decent 5G or LTE reception on your phone, did you try just using your phone’s hotspot instead of the Rivian?

Yeah, I resorted to using my phone as a hotspot. Worked fine, but drained my phone battery. Hoping to figure out a way to connect a streaming stick before our next tailgate!

I would try a different brand streaming device and I’m sure you’ll find one that works. Can’t tailgate properly without a working TV!

FWIW, I did some more Googling, and it sounds like the Rivian hotspot wifi is 5 ghz. I just tried three different types of Rokus we have around the house, and one of them did recognize the R1T's wifi (two of them did not, and definitely should have been in range). The one that did recognize it is a Roku Streaming Stick+, I think. The other two that don't work seem to be Roku Express and Roku Premiere, both of which are older than the Stick+.

I want to tailgate with a TV in the bed as well. Now that you've identified a working Roku stick that works, have you experienced any other issues?

@TheDynasty I haven't had a chance to tailgate again since that first week, but I have no reason to think it won't work!
