im also not sure yet about mounting an antenna. I’m thinking I may be able to mount it on the accessory bars. Maybe with a magnetic mount. While the bars are aluminum I think I could rig something up. (KB7MUC)Watching all the threads on this stuff since I'll be doing the same, WX5AB here. I'm not even sure where we'll be able to mount an antenna save for maybe a lip mount on the hood. On my current 4Runner I have an antenna on each corner of the tailgate for CB and 2m/440 and power run through an existing grommet in the firewall. I haven't seen anyone mentioning similar grommets on the R1 yet.
Not sure if your joking about slamming the doors, but the doors fit pretty tight.I don't have my R1T yet. I am in the May/June window, waiting. I am a Ham also and my guess is the vehicle will have noise from all that is going with EV's. I do feel that the 2 Meter band will be less effected than 80-10 Meter bands. My call is W9DR. I have been a Ham for 67 years. Just slam the door on RG58U coax. Hi Hi
Great idea! ThanksSomeone said they removed the plastic panel at the rear of the bed and there appeared to be a grommet. They were in a loaner R1T so they didn't want to punch through to confirm, however (rightfully so).
I haven’t done anything about it so far. I’m afraid to drill through the body and there don’t seem to be any useable holes on the vehicle already. I’m just hoping something comes up.Can I bring this thread back to life? Anyone tried it yet? I don't have the guts to, but I would really like to get my radio moved over to my R1T. Also curious about getting one in the R1S, but that can wait for the time being.
