After the last update one week ago, twice I have received the "Service Suspension Soon" message. The various drive modes were not available and maximum speed limited to 51 m.p.h. Called service and they had me to do a reset )left most button on the steering wheel and the hazard button simultaneously until the reset starts. Afterwards, seems to be functioning fine. Made an appointment as occurred twice but it is not until mid-November. Anyone experience something similar?

I really like my R1S over the last 9 months/8k miles but I am getting a little frustrated and started to have 2nd doubts about the decision to keep it. First had a roulette wheel clicking noise from the passenger side rear area => replaced drive assembly. Then a rattle over speed bumps => loose suspension hydraulic line which was not properly clipped with the drive assembly replacement. Now the "service suspension soon" light x 2. I would start to question such a history even if service was close by but especially 3 service visits now in the first year each to a service center 2-3 hours away. Believe I can still sell her for about $80k at this time and contemplating doing so and purchasing something else.

I get your frustration with the failed drive assembly and the noise caused by improper work when it was replaced. I used to own a Jaguar, so having only one new problem following a repair seems like Rivian is stellar.

Regarding the errors that went away after a restart, though, have you never used a Windows PC? I would be in heaven if my work computer was as well-behaved as your Rivian such that it only required me to restart it once, EVER, outside of regular updates. I do IT work and my general rule is that when tech with a computer is acting flaky, I restart it: laptop, car, dishwasher, video doorbell, etc. If it doesn’t do the same flaky thing after restarting it then I chalk it up to an unusual confluence of events and move on. If it does the same thing again then I install any pending updates. Still a problem? Probably time to report a bug.

There were some early builds that had issues with plugs that weren't fully seated. They are really easy to verify, as the plugs are visible on the suspension components. It may be worth a look.

FWIW, I got that same error message once just after I got my truck a year and a half ago. Did a reset and it never came back.

I too got this exact message twice after the latest update, first one cleared with a hard reset and the second cleared with a sleep cycle.

I thought their might be something actually wrong with my suspension because I had done some light off roading last weekend before these happened but hasn’t come back again since Tuesday. I so far have not scheduled service, I will this fall sometime because I have a couple other issues I want looked at too.

I also just started getting this last Sunday, and it has been an issue all week. Hard reset (with flashers) fixed it every time but it would come back consistently. Took it in for service today curious what it will be.

Let us know what they determine it to be. Unfortunately my first available is not until mid November. Happened a 3rd time in one week today.

My concern with these warnings, of either the battery, suspension, or drive unit that people just clear by resetting, is experiencing a shut down while on a long road trip from home one day. My family would never get in the car again if that were to happen. Never had such an instance happen in all my years of driving over the decades, and hopefully my Rivian won't be the first car to do so.

I would get any warning checked up on.

I have had this exact issue twice this week. Soft reset once and sleep mode the second time fixed it… but did it? The suspension seems much more wobbly than it was before the update. For now, the vehicle is back to operating properly, but a couple more times and it will be a trip to service.

hopefully, someone posts an answer to this issue soon. It’s kind of scary to be charging down a SoCal freeway and all of a sudden your car starts slowing down to 51 mph (limited) with suspension warning, etc.

They have had mine at the service center for this problem for nearly 3 weeks now. Last weekend they told me it was fixed so I drove an hour to pick it up get in the truck and it instantly gave me the "Service Suspension Soon" message and turtle mode as soon as I touched the brake. No one at the service center could help but they said they would fix it right away. 3 days later I got a call saying it was still being worked on I asked if they know what the problem is and how to fix it and the advisor said "No, we escalated it to engineering". So it sounds like they don't know how to fix this. I called again today for an update but no one for the SC called me back.

Happened a 4th time today. Performed the reset and message went away. My service appointment is a month away still. Not encouraging that they do not know the etiology of the problem. Keep us posted as you seem to be the first to get into a SC with the issue.

Hope to hear some type of update on Monday. The advisor guy I spoke with made it sound like they have a couple of other trucks with the same issue.

I got my truck back from Rivian over this same issue. They had the truck for over a week and couldn't make it repro the fault. They drained and refilled the suspension oil but did no other repairs.

My service advisor said that they escalated the problem to Engineering where they found an issue with the suspension controller firmware that can trigger this fault on an otherwise normally operating system. I asked whether this means that Rivian will fix this issue with an OTA update and the service advisor said that usually happens in about 3 update cycles.

I had this issue back in September, although the faults (and turtle mode) returned after resets.

When talking with CS, they scheduled a tow to my nearest SC (2+ hours away). They had my truck for about 3 weeks, replacing both front dampers (apparently they replace both if one is bad).

My R1S was in the service center last week for this issue. They performed "a hydraulic fluid drain procedure and inspected fluid for metal flakes. No metal found in system. Discovered system was undefiled causing customer concern." Will update if any further issues.
