I started to notice a small humming noise coming from the steering column "area" on the drivers side. I can only hear it with the radio off and doesn't matter if I'm driving or parked. I also still hear it when the A/C is turned off. THe sound is very similar to the hum you would hear if you had a small motor that was under load, but not spinning. Haven't investigated enough to determine if it is one of the air vent motors or something else in the steering column, but I'm wondering if anyone else has heard this type of noise.

It's not the most annoying thing and honestly isn't that loud, but I do wonder if it is a sign of something going bad. And just for reference, I only started hearing it because I'm making myself read more and have been sitting in car more often getting in my daily 1/2 hour.

It’s the temperature sensor fan behind the driver display. I just had mine replaced and noticed a louder hum in the loaner that they gave me.

Thank You... I know I hear ringing in my ears, but the humming was a new one for me. Any chance you have a copy of the invoice, so I don't have to waste too much time going back and fourth with service?

Thank you... ours is a 2023 with only 18K miles so far, so it should be under warranty. I just wanted a little more ammo when I go, since not all techs are created equal. Looks like yours was a good one.

This just started happening with my R1T. Definitely not related to speed (pitch does not vary when driving or stopped), volume can change over time, not related to audio (not coming from speaker, does not change when raising or lowering the volume, occurs when all audio is off or there's audio playing), not related to active HVAC (happens even when HVAC is off, independent of fan speeds when on). Will use the info here to see if I can get it replaced.

Its a common problem according to service. Its a small fan motor in the column. Schedule an appointment and they will take care of it.
